Hi
Tarmak007 today conducted a chat session for its Facebook fans and Tejas Boss P S Subramanyam.

I hereby try to assimilate them here.
The facts below are responses by him to questions by fans.

●Astra missiles programme was actually initiated at ADA only. All the time the integration of ASTRA on to LCA has been kept in mind while evolving Astra. Once Astra is cleared on any other platform it will be integrated on LCA.

●3 more SP aircrafts will be delivered by year end.

●Rs 7,500 cores spent to develop 2 TDs, 5 prototypes and 7 LSPs and establish a production line. The most economical programme in the world so far for the above purpose.

●Radar Range of mk1 is 100 km for targets of size 2m^2.

● The Nose (Quatz) fron Cobham will increase the performance of radar by 15%. Meaning the present range of Radar is 86.9 Km if you do some maths.

●Thrust vectoring feature cannot improve any of LCA performance.

●FoC by Mar 2016 MK2 roll out before 2018

● Tejas Trainer can take part in battle.

●Naval aircraft will be cleared by carrier compatibility after the availability of our own aircraft carrier.

●The dry engine development of Kaveri is on.

● Tejas has quite a good range as ferry range of 1500 km is not small.

●Tejas mk1 has moderate degree of stealth.

●The Open Systems Architecture of LCA facilitates continuous upgrade of Electronics hence prevents obsolescence.

●Internal Jammer to mk1 will be added at a later stage.

●From this year begining HAL is looking for a production rate of 16-20 aircrafts per year and it will take 3 years to reach that rate.

●Composites are 40 per cent by weight and 90 per cent by surface area.

●The pilots find this aircraft extermely pilot friendly in its handling qualities.

●FoC clearance will not come in the way of ramping up the production since the initial order is for IoC config.

●MK1 improved version in another 2 years.

●We expect the deliveries from Cobhmam by July.

●LSP 6 is being redied to pull 28 degrees AoA.

●Weight reduction is an ongoing process. And target to reduce weight by 6000 kg has been almost achieved.

●The LCA can carry Laser guided bombs with miss distances of hit of the order of less than a meter.

●OBOGS all the ground tests are over. Ready for integration on a prototype vehicle.

●The Cobham Radome will increase the range by about 10-15%

●COnfig design of AMCA is completed and Preliminary design is about to start. Engine requirements are also finalised.

●Present AoA is 24-26 degrees.

●Life span of Tejas is 30 years.

The facts above are not in order.
Forgive me for grammatical errors.
Also forgive me for technical details which might be wrong. Am still 17, so not a big techy.
Please do not indulge in trolling.

●The dry engine development of Kaveri is on..
This is the best thing to roll out in near future.

●Tejas mk1 has moderate degree of stealth..
Correct

●From this year begining HAL is looking for a production rate of 16-20 aircrafts per year and it will take 3 years to reach that rate..
Figure is exaggerated.

●Composites are 40 per cent by weight and 90 per cent by surface area..
More than 40%

●MK1 improved version in another 2 years..
No, It will surface in 2019 at earliest.

●COnfig design of AMCA is completed and Preliminary design is about to start. Engine requirements are also finalised..
This is correct.

.
●Internal Jammer to mk1 will be added at a later stage.

Both the electro-optic Electronic Warfare (EW) sensor suite + Internal Jammer and AESA Radar will probably be featured in LCA-1P - the timeline of which has been set at 2017. Until now the jammer is too big to be fitted into the Mark-I version.

..:: India Strategic ::. Top: HAL developing LCA-1P with AESA Radar

●The dry engine development of Kaveri is on.

Interesting - I though it was totally dead - they were running two separate successor engine programmes, the K9+ programme and the K10 programme.

.
● Tejas has quite a good range as ferry range of 1500 km is not small.
Compared to Gripen's 3200, its rather piss poor.
●Radar Range of mk1 is 100 km for targets of size 2m^2.
He didn't say anything about target size.
And target to reduce weight by 6000 kg has been almost achieved.
He said 6560 kilos.
●Life span of Tejas is 30 years.
It is 3000 hours. Once again rather piss poor.

Hi
Please keep away from trolling .
And if only you had little education you would have known that 16 Tejas have been flying for 12 years till now without a single crash.
Cheers
Thanks

(01) It's Republic Day Parade - not Independence Day.

(02) Single engine jets are barred from fly past during the parade - you won't see any single engine jets out there not even the Mirages.
