So is this standard SOP to practice at site before the show? Just curious. Also ate any other team there performing too? I mean apart from Indian team?
Indeed it is. Usually arrivals of aircraft for airshows begin 3-4 days in advance and those that will be carrying out flying displays will be amongst the first. It is important for those pilots to arrive early so they can practice in an alien airspace, learn the area limits and establish good communication with the ground controllers.

In the case of the LCA team, they arrived a little earlier for reasons stated- to practice in the specific enviromental conditions of Sakir (Bangalore, the LCA's and NTFC's home is at a higher elevation) and to make sure the LCA's first foreign airshow is as close to perfect as possible.

Off Topic- can't say much about the tejas sorties at sakir but the IAF is practicing really hard for the RD parade.
Few days ago I saw 4 mki's flying in coordination here and just now saw 3 globemasters flying back to back with 5 min. gap and then 2 gobemasters flying with 5 min. difference escorted by 2 sukhoi mki each(dont know if that is a stunt for the RD parade).

In this instance; the early arrival in Bahrain is for the purpose of familiarisation, both with the airfield and air-space and even more importantly with the ambient conditions i.e. climatic. Bahrain is now likely to be much drier, dustier with temperature swings through the day. Decidedly different from Farnborough, Paris or even Bangalore.

Can anyone tell me if JF-17 is actually participating in this airshow (And if so are there pictures?).

I have been reading that they withdrew?

Why does that bump on the spine close to the tail change very often? Is this the newer or older prototype?

If I am not mistaken thats where they have put the APU

The RWR is the blob underneath the vertical stabilizer (the part that is not the chute housing but close)

I think what our friend is talking about is the hump just before the tail starts. I remember there used to be an air inlet there, suggesting its an APU (auxiliary power unit)....you can even see the unpainted exhaust behind it. Now they seemed to have moved the inlet further forward (its closer to the canopy now). The hump does seem quite unsightly to me however.....though not as terrible as the CFTs on some of the F-16s these days.
