We need 2 decades to catch up and that too if we increase the budget of isro from current pathetic 1 billion$ per year

In the next two decades the most powerfull LV Indian is planning to develope is ULV .

Even the heaviest version of ULV only has a lift capacity of 15,000kg to LEO .

This means even if Japan stand still without any R&D for next two decades ,even then India will not be able to catch up with them .

Now we are into the liquid motor as well as cryogenic engine also. Here the point is not the technical ability but affordability. India can supply the same as much competitive rate.

With GSLV MK III we shall reach upto 12000 KG+

Even in cryogenic technology they are well ahead of us .

They are just third behind US and Russia when it comes to space technology .

As for affordability I agree with you , India can launch satellites much cheaper than Japan .

I could not find the stats on wikipedia....but man that is awesome milage.

Well these small cars have a mileage between 16 to 20 on i lit of petrol......You should see the advt of Maruti, a creative one on mileage......(common man asking the mileage of a yatch, rocket and a figher plane )

I am not sure whether we can be proud of this, may be the design of this gear box is done in India, but the RnD is not entirely an Indian one, there are japs also working along with Indians....

The adam revo comes to mind, but its not in production anymore i think.

It was a Chinese vehicle. Also now most of the Pakistanis are buying used japanese vehicles which are better in terms of quality as well as price. Because local assemblers are making very bad vehicles.
