Poor maintenance and outdated aircrafts mar Indian Air Force’s capability to match PAF or the Chinese air force.

Defense PSU HAL has been unable to properly maintain, update or equip IAF with the essentials needed to put forth a respectable challenge for the rival Pakistan Air Force. Inadequate training also provided to rookie pilots is also one of the main reasons the Indian Air Force is heading towards decline, as far as maintaining standards is concerned.

On Tuesday morning, the dismal condition of IAF further came to light when a Jaguar fighter crashed 13 km east of Allahabad. Fortunately, the two pilots were able to eject themselves and escape the ordeal. The hapless condition of IAF can be judged from the fact that it is down to 35 squadrons, with some of them existing only on paper.

This was the sixth fighter IAF jet to crash since January of this year, a stat that should ring alarm bells for India. India’s hostile neighbour Pakistan has one of the best air forces in the world and so does China. India is involved in border disputes and has militarily been confronted by both Pakistan and China in the past. The IAF has a battle on its hands with its fast-depleting fighter strength, which will progressively get worse with the virtually obsolete MiG-21s and MiG-27s headed for long-delayed retirement.

Whilst the Chinese have almost three times the number of fighter jets than India, Pakistan Air Force is also flying close to the Indians. Pakistan Air Force has 21 combat squadrons at their disposal, with four more soon to be added to the overall quantity. India and Pakistan have fought three wars with each other, and it is a known fact that PAF has always bested the Indian Air Force in encounters.

The Indian Air Force has recorded more than 1,100 crashes since 1970, mainly due to technical defect and maintenance faults. Since 2011-2012, the Indian Air Force has lost 15 helicopters and 35 aircrafts in crashes.

Pakistan’s M.M.Alam is one of the most celebrated pilots in the world. He holds the world record for shooting down five Indian fighter aircraft in 55 seconds. Pakistan Air Force has also been instrumental in the Operation Zarb e Azb that has been waged by the country’s military against militants. With accuracy and precision, the PAF has been instrumental in taking out militants’ hideouts.

pure pakistani media BS, PSU hal is a manufacturing and repairing company.. they don't have much R&D. and no one can put their equipment on the jets which is not made in that country. that is the reason why US AF technicians are still in pakistan. they don't let any Pakistanis to open many components of the f-16. only jet pakistan can freely modify or repair is jf-17, for other jets, they need permission from original manufacture.
Inadequate training also provided to rookie pilots is also one of the main reasons the Indian Air Force is heading towards decline, as far as maintaining standards is concerned.
this was the problem till 2012, now there is no such problem because of the introduction of the AJT hawk trainer.
Whilst the Chinese have almost three times the number of fighter jets than India
that is correct, china have a large no of 4th gen, fighter jets,
Pakistan Air Force is also flying close to the Indians
no not even close.. the advance jets in IAf is far gareater than those in PAF. india have more that 200mkis, 9 HAL tajes, 66 mig 29, 50 mirage 2000s... so the total no of 4th and 4+ gen fighter in indian air force is approx. 325. while pakistan air force have 53 jf-17s, 76 f-16s... s the total no of 4th gen fighters in PAF is 129... no were near indian air force. indian air force have absolute majority in quality of aircraft. the total no of squanders don't matter. because both PAF and IAF have huge no, of outdated planes.

India’s hostile neighbour Pakistan has one of the best air forces in the world and so does China.
self calmed worlds best. PLAAF is not considered to be one of the best in the world dspite having a large no of jets,
. With accuracy and precision, the PAF has been instrumental in taking out militants’ hideouts.
:o: by declearing those died in the carpet bombing.. yes boobing with high precision.

sovite/ Russian hardware are maintenance nightmare, the servicability of sovite planes are 56% while that of an ammerican lane is 85%. even Americans find it difficult to maintain the mig -29 they got from iraq which they used for training purpose,so they grounded it.

yes, that is true. indian air force is facing a huge problem due to inefficient politicians and bureaucrats, there not even a single plane introduced since 2000!!!....that rafeal deal comes with a great relief for IAF. Rafael will be introduced from 2018.
Pakistan Air Force has 21 combat squadrons at their disposal, with four more soon to be added to the overall quantity.
its better you don't talk about future plans... india is planing to introduce 10 squadrons of 4+ gen and 5th gen planes by 2020.
it is a known fact that PAF has always bested the Indian Air Force in encounters.
oo really!!??? that is the reason why IAF gain air supremacy in east pakistan and you lost half of your country?? where was PAF when IAF was dropping bombs on pakistan army soldiers in 1999 kargil war!?? PAF even refused to involved in the war because they afraid of IAF. it was openly said by then PAF air force chief. they were afraid of IAF because every mig-29 jets in IAF was conducting CAP with BVR missiles, while PAF have none of these.

that was in 60s,, at that time IAF was in stone age, during Nehru's time, military was the one of the most ignored branch.
Nehru concentrated on social development, at this time, those British rules left india only with poverty and illiteracy, so for him social development was the priority. so for developing india he ignore the defense. it has changed now. india in 60s is not india in 2015. since 1971 india have both qualitatively and quantitative advantage over pakistan AF, it only china which is a major threat to india, we don't consider pakistan as major threat, even pakistani military and political leader knows this that is why they try to threaten india with nuclear weapons.

Agreed 100%

calm down we are no match for PAF.

not powerful but capable
capable of what?? you can put bombs over those terrorists who don't even have an air defense. it is not the case when you face india, we have more su-30 mkis that your entaier F-16 and jf-17 combined. and su 30mki is far superior than any fighter jet in PAF. with addition of rafeal in the near future, you have no chance to win a war against india,

As long as U are happy, its should be none of the concern to anyone. If its fine with IAF that they are down to 35 squadrons then am sure they would be happy even if number goes further down.
