On February 24, 2025, Manav Sharma, a 30-year-old manager at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), tragically committed suicide in Agra, India. In a heartbreaking seven-minute video that he made prior to his passing, Sharma blamed his wife, Nikita, for his choice. Threatening to make false accusations against him and his family he accused her of having an affair.
On 30 January 2024, Manav Sharma and Nikita were married and at first their union appeared to be typical. Conflicts eventually developed though with Nikita allegedly accusing him of bogus charges and threatening to leave him for another guy. According to Sharma's father, Narendra Sharma, a retired Indian Air Force officer Nikita would frequently tell Manav that she had been forced into marriage to him and that she despised him rather than loved him. She reportedly said that she wanted to live a lavish lifestyle with her partners.

Sharma's family complained to the police after the video was found, but the process was originally delayed because of the Maha Shivratri festivities. An inquiry is still on, and the case was eventually registered. In a counter-video, Nikita has refuted the accusations and asserted that Manav had a violent past and had attempted suicide before. She claimed that despite telling his family about these instances, she didn't get much help.
There are similarities between this occurrence and another recent instance involving Atul Subhash, a programmer from Bengaluru, who likewise committed himself after claiming that his wife had harassed him. The complexities of mental health, marital disputes, and the need for greater public understanding of men's challenges are all highlighted by these examples.
