So, can you tell me, why is Mr. Erdoğan wants to promote secularism in spring countries like Egypt? Even Islamist leaders in Turkey have no problem with secularism.

Is anyone listened Erdoğan's Konya speech today? He was talking about they acknowledged Mustafa Kemal's order.

Longbrained is actaully funny guy, I like the cartoons he posts :D but don't argue on him in this subjects, Iran and Religion in Turkey :D

It is very simple. Erdogan is just politician and wants these countries look up to Turkey as their regional leader. If he starts to talk about Islam, people are going to ridicule him and say your country is secular. So he has to go with a middle approach. That is his foreign policy for NOW. At home he is doing a social engineering to set the ground works for a modern Sunni State. A Islamic Republic and he has got huge support. Not perhaps in Ankara and Istanbul but in rest of the Turkey. He has sweetened his goal for his opposition by working hard to bring economic opportunities. He has been successful over all too. Some one who believes in secularism from his heart does not come and declare his intention to raise a generation of religious kids. He is looking into future, while you are only grasping his present moment. That is the difference. He and his party have a long term plan for Turkey.

People of Turkey is far different than other Muslim people's. Becoming part of the Europe was in the agenda of Ottomans Turks since Treaty of Paris. Westernizing was and is the goal of our leaders.

I am the one researching my religion, who says I am blindly following everything? What kind of joke statement is that.

I research and gain knowledge before I apply.

Well, clearly Ottomans failed in that. So did the secularists after them. Europe has not yet accepted you guys in. Young people in Turkey would want more. It is not the cold war anymore. They want to be looked to as a great power. And this can not be done unless Turkey leaves secularism since in secularism, Turkey will be always following west. Just look around yourself and ask yourself this question and answer it honestly: Compared to 20 years ago, Turkey is becoming more or less secular? The answer is critical. Even Turkish army is not part of the large social engineering plan to make Turkey an Islamic country. They have stopped to prevent government to go Islamic, otherwise coups are not alien in Turkey.

Believe me, nothing changed. 20 years ago, socialist and right-wing supporters were killing themselves, now our people divided into different things.

Otherwise, we must broke the chain and become united again.

A question, if Atatürk doesn't abolished the caliphate and declare himself as a caliph, what will you guys think about him? No offence, just want to know your opinions.

There are currently Islamic thinkers in Turkey who are providing the theoretical framework for the transition to an Islamic Turkey. These guys are not some ordinary people, they are genius and alot of them have deep Islamic sympathies. Though they are working on a modern Islamic framework and not some Saudi version of it. Turkey is positioning itself to lead Sunni muslims around the world. That is clear from their foreign policy and their internal dynamics. Any one with an ounce of brain can see that. Maybe even US would like that to happen since, it is going to be better to leave this leadership role to Turkey than to terrorists like Al-Qaeda. But for that Turkey has to leave secularism. And they are doing that one bit by one bit at a time. Of course they are not going to dismantle it overnight since it brings instability. But your children probably will grow up in an Islamic Turkey.
