All Indian ev companies, including tata , import battery cells from south Korea and China and assemble them in India.
Major cost of any ev is -
battery
motor
BMS- battery management system
Converters AC to DC , etc

Rest of the components are shared with IC vehicles.
Indian companies show the body, suspension and interiors as indigenous, probably at inflated costs and artificially increase the local content.
No technology enhancement takes place in India and the Chinese and local Indian companies get their cut.

India’s leading electric car company, Tata Motors, is taking its biggest step in its EV foray with the reveal of an all-electric concept car in Mumbai on Friday, April 29. The EV concept will be based on Tata Motors’ first ‘Born Electric’ platform that will see a range of multiple body styles with two- and three-row seating configurations that could be ready to hit the road from 2025 onwards."

They've tied up with Tata Chemicals in its attempt to build a component supplier ecosystem and manufacture lithium-ion battery cells, in addition to looking at active chemical manufacturing and battery recycling. Apart from them, Suzuki Motor Gujarat will invest Rs 7,300 crore in the construction of a battery plant near SMG’s automobile manufacturing unit by 2026.
You can’t just import and put a product without proper validation for Indian conditions. A lot of charging technology is based on software and if you don’t develop software to optimally charge the battery, there is always a danger
