Tata may produce C-130J at Hyderabad

.
I wouldn't might to have only 1 type of medium class aircraft, instead of 2 for pretty much the same purposes.

Well the MTA is a long way out right now and it makes sense for the IAF to have contingencies in place aka C-130J. And for Spec Ops role the modified C-130Js the IAF is getting is an excellant platform and pretty much the only option around.

. .
The C130J can easily replace the avros and an 32's.

If it can be assembled by tata thats great. I wouldn't expect a tot on the engines however.

It is not same class of C-130J it has the payload capacity of 18T. Both Avro and An-32 is around 5-7T class.

having 30 C130J should be enough to take care of a possible delay in MTA

We dont need more than 12 Special ops version and can opt for normal Transport variant for a third batch of 18

In my opinion C27J Spartan would be a good replacement for Avros , since it shares several commonalities with C130J

Having 30 C130Js makes MTA not needed anymore, because the cost of the development isn't worth it. Not to forget that An 32s are beeing upgraded, so there is no urgent need to replace them now.
As simple as it is, if more specialised medium class aircrafts are needed, we will buy more C130Js, for example for weather observation, or tanker roles, but for the normal transport role MTA will remain the first choice.
