Heavy Industries Taxila has developed a brand new Multi Purpose Tracked Vehicle (MPTV) called TARRAR (which means SPEEDY). The main purpose of this vehicle is recon/ surveillance and Anti-Tank with 50 caliber and Baktar Shikan mounts on top of the developed prototype. The platform is very versatile can can be used in many tactical roles in addition to the original intended purpose. A wheeled version is also in the pipeline. Way to go HIT and way to go Pakistan Army. The attached photos shows the 'raw' version without any Armour plating/ camouflage coloring or side skirts.

See the completed version at the upcoming IDEAS 2008 in Karachi at the outside stall of Heavy Industries Taxila. :enjoy:

Looks very similar to the Lynx reconnaisance vehicle formerly used by Canada and the Netherlands.

That vehicle used M113A1 components and this certainly does from the looks of the road wheels and tracks.

epool you have some more info abut this what its job on war time?

.
Hello everyone.

Imran Khan,

The MPTV Tarrar has been designed primarily as a recon/ surveillance platform with the offensive capability in shape of the Baktar Shikan ATGW and defensive capability in shape of 12.7mm and 7.62mm weapons. It is also a very good platform for spec ops/ dealing with guerrilla warfare/ insurgency and counter-insurgency limited scale conflicts/ battles. The said vehicle is also aimed at the global export market.

This platform seems like a very soft armor vechile but with the speed maybe it might pull through or they can make it into multi function platform to attract customers and boost sales

The Tarrar MPTV will have composite Armor which is light compared to conventional armor. Secondly its relative small size, stealth features and speed is the essence of its survivability in the battlefield. Its like a field Mongoose, moves very quickly, staying low and can raise itself on its two feet to have a 360 deg view (in this case a boom TI/CCD surveillance system is in works)

.
Hay all the better this vechile would make for a killer Anza SAM platform

.
Truely I think pakistan should try to build a wheeled vechile now. They are much quiter and can do the job just as well.

Another good point thanks for that fatman17. Pakistan needs something in the SWAT area that does not give away its position easily. With tracks you can here them coming a mile away. A good example is the Stryker it does really well in urban war fair and half the time (as far as I have heard in documentaries) they don't even here it coming. Pakistan has the facilities now it just needs to put them to use and adapt new ideas of what is required for urban warfair vechiles. Even our Chinese brothers are developing next gen wheeled vechiles. Take a look at these.

Notic how well they are able to use them for different roles. Even if we could licence build one or two of these and emprove on them would make a world of a difference.

The only problem with WHEELED APC's that is foreseen vis-a-vis Pakistan Army is actually the expensive maintenance/ logistics of the wheels as the same are not yet manufactured by any of the local industry. The APC wheels have to be extremely specialized for the rough & varied Pakistani terrain, very high/ low temperature operation, should be bullet resistant and puncture proof etc. The steel tracks are actually the best choice for the Pakistani terrain which is hard and very unforgiving to rubber tires. Unless these specialized wheels are manufactured in Pakistan, its no use to manufacture a wheeled APC with tyres being procured from an outside vendor!

.
it only has 4 Tracked wheels ! Also on the sides it should have windows like in the Front !
