School Teacher from Tamil Nadu arrested for burning the National Flag

Prabhu, a school teacher, was arrested in Tamil Nadu for the unconstitutional act of burning the Indian National flag. He lives in the town of Swamimalai famous for the Murugan temple and teaches at a school in Pateeshwaram near Kumbakonnam Taluk.

The Aryan Vedic god Rudra became identified with the Dravidian deity Sivan. The facilitations on either side existed to make this gradual mutual identification possible. Thus, by the time of the shaivAgamAs and the purANAs, the two were treated as one god.

In Rig Veda VII:21:5, the god Indra is invoked by the Aryans to protect them from the worshipers of shishna (male procreative organ) who came to disturb their yaj~jas (fire sacrifices). Again, in Rig Veda X:99:3, the deity Indra is praised as the slayer of shishna worshippers. Sivan was a very popular and powerful Dravidian god, whose widespread worship, the Vedic Aryans could not ignore. When he got identified with the Vedic Rudra through a gradual assimilation process, there was struggle to accept him by the Vedic Aryans as the story of Dhaksha-prajApati depicts.

Suicide of student: Probe puts onus on Kerala Christ Church Mission Crossroads School authorities

Kottayam: The district child protection officer has blamed the authorities of Crossroads School, Pampady, for the suicide of a student on March 31. Mr V.J. Binoy, who inquired into the suicide of Binto, 14, ninth standard student, found that the school authorities had asked him to take transfer certificate after he was admitted to the tenth standard. This was to ensure 100 percent pass in the CBSE class 10 examinations. Mr Binoy told DC that the school had admitted the students to the tenth standard even before the results of the ninth standard examinations were out.

“The school asked Binto to get transfer certificate and leave the school after he was admitted to the tenth standard. This caused him agony forcing him to take the extreme step”, Mr Binoy said. He submitted his report to the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) which will forward it to the department of women and child welfare for further action, said its chairperson Marykutty. The boy’s father in his statement to the police also said that the school authorities had deliberately failed him in the examinations for facilitating 100 percent success in the tenth standard examinations.
