Talks with Taliban have hit rock bottom: PR

Monday, November 25, 2013 - Lahore—Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Sunday that the issue of talks with the Taliban has hit the rock bottom and the government is hoping to restart the talks process. Talking to media persons after attending a function here, the minister said the government wants to resolve the issues of terrorism and drone attacks through the talks .

He said there was contradiction in the statements of the PTI chief Imran Khan and he is befooling the masses. He said Nawaz Sharif had become a national leader from the time when Imran Khan was running after the ‘ball and other things’. Pervaiz Rashid said Pakistan was facing countless problems including terrorism and in such circumstances the country needs friends, not foes. He said the politics of Imran Khan was not in the favour of the country as he is bent upon deteriorating Pakistan’s relations with the world community.

He said those spoiling Pakistan’s relations with other countries can’t be Pakistan’s friends. The minister said the FIR filed by the PTI chief against the drone strike didn’t name any accused. He said this FIR is against unknown people, which is a joke with the nation. He said when Imran Khan doesn’t know that who is behind the drone strike then why he was raising slogans against the US and blocking Nato supplies. Pervaiz Rashid said there was no doubt that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was most affected by terrorism and Imran Khan also claims of representing the sentiments of Pakhtuns but the sit-in of the PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not addressed by any Pakhtun leader.

He said people from Rawalpindi and South Punjab addressed the rally of Pakhtuns. He said Imran Khan raised the slogan of blocking Nato supplies, but later he sat in his Prado and went back to Bani Gala. He said there has been off day on Saturday and Sunday for Nato supplies transportation then the blockage of supplies by the PTI on these days was beyond comprehension. —INP

Peace talks are not going to work with Fazlullah. Better launch a military operation
