WASHINGTON: Trilateral talks between the United States, Afghanistan and Pakistan due later this month have been postponed, the State Department said Saturday, in the latest sign of strained US ties with Islamabad.

“In light of the political changes in Pakistan and after discussions with Afghan and Pakistani officials in Washington, it was agreed to postpone the Trilateral Meeting scheduled for February 23-24,” State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said in a statement.

“We look forward to convening a very productive Trilateral Meeting at the earliest opportunity,” he said, adding that Washington remains “committed to robust engagement between Afghanistan, Pakistan and the United States.”

objective of these ''talks'' was to discuss security and the war in Afghanistan. I assume this is because of the whole raymond davis drama --which has become a front page story when it really shouldnt need to be --when the matters are in the courts and not (or shouldnt be) in the matter of others

2 questions --- why did Afghanistan pull out? And wouldnt cancelling these talks harm US/NATO more --as they have made it clear they want to find a succesful exit strategy? Postponing the talks doesn't harm Pakistan at all.

Now that pakistani govt is laying ground for the release of Raymond davis i think the talks will soon follow.

Somebody in Pakistan must stop some shamless Pak political leaders from releasing the criminal Davis. Pakistan must stand firm against these Crusaders and hold the ground firmly and make US bow before you. Allah is much much greater and powerful then this hollow world superpower. Just be true believer and Allah will take care of you.

These shamless leaders have bowed enuf infront of US and West. Bowing at this moment will destroy the moral of Pakistani nation, destroy the respect of Pak courts and law of land of Pakistan. People must come to the street to save the respect of their nation if these scums are planning to release this murderer.
