Talibanisation in karachi

Terrible to hear that Musharraf wasn't in controll of the border being the COAS I feel a renewed belief that Nawaz shoiuld have removed him and who on this thread believes that we should joon the Talibs we believe we sohould have sealed our borders which you point out that Musharraf was incapable of doing.

Can someone tell me that all those people who are attacking and working against Pakistan are Taliban?

Well if experts were believed then probably yes, however America is also interested in taking away our nucear weapons which is also quite important to mention and know.

Your reasoning about the economy is perfectly true though I will quiz you again countries like the US have been through depression and recessions but still law and order is maintained, i would say education could play a key part in this system because I am not being racist but I feel that the Pakhtoon children have been denied education in schhools and then whatever they are taught they bring to the table which is why they resort to violence. I feel half the reason why Muhajir people don't stand upto the MQM's muscle side because they feel sort of protected against the Pakhtoon.

Brother I am sorry about the late reply to your post. The thing is as you grow older, your responsibilities take up so much of your time and things start moving too fast for you to keep pace with them. i persoanlly think that every where in the world, worsening of the socio economic conditions give rise to a lot of problems. There was definate worsening of the law and order situation in the US in the 30s and I strongly suspect that if you were to plot a graph of economic condition and crime rate you will find an inverse relationship of the two. What is happenning in UK, is also a reflection of this.
You have alluded to education. I would prefer to provide livelihood first and make the continuation of livelihood dependant on acquisition of education. it would ensure a better response than asking a family to send their son to study when theuy know that he can work in the nearby shop and bring in desperately needed cash. Your remarks about Pukhtoon children are not racist, but a reflection of your experience. the situation is no different in any of the other provinces.

Both points here in my opinion have to be looked in with great detail for they are like two toasts leaning on each other if one is removed the other automatically falls. The problems co-relate an uneducated cop who hardly earns a living would do anything to get a little extra money (bribery) and to protect his job wouldn't want to anger his senior officers (contacts). Whereas the point is if the cop was educated he would uphold the law and not take bribery and treat the SP's son equal to me (I have no contact unfortunately) the system can be seen in the motoway police I was impressed at how their system worked they are educated as well as better paid and don't care who you are or who's son you are. If you were to ask me I have a very good solution to stop bribery I would attach a mic to a radio that would be recording all the cop will say to the person he stops and a section will randomly pick an officer and listen to his daily routine this way we can listen if he is abusing his position. having said that I also feel that we should adress to their requirements and help them setup their own union that would deal with their problem though I know unions hae sounded poorly to people but in this case I am talking of a union of educated cops not uneducated hooligans. I 100% agree that the police academy need better training and better equipment and the paying system needs to be reformed.
You are very right. The problem is that there is no dignity left in the lower level job in the Police. However, i dont think the Mike idea will work. The truth is if a legal system is just and honest, people will find justice and the culprits would be held accountable.
To locate blame on a thanna official is wrong you earlier yourself mentioned if a person is desparate and steals then the situation is different if your system would be adopted poor SP would be begging the politicians to help the people I think that every area will need to be given a different category and the lesser the crime the more the official gets as benefit to him.

what I have suggested is one of the ways out in the interim. I have heard harrowing stories and i think SPs are at least getting a cut in every robbery , in most if not all the cases. The fact remains, someone should be held accountable for the crime in the area under their control. The situation however, is only tenable if resources are provided to the police to be able to investigate, and apprehend the culprits in a manner that would hold in court. Believe me a little pressure will do a lot of good.

As for the mafia that is truly an evil that can't die you will kill one mafia another will take over, these people deal with drugs dangerous things so crackdown is a temporary solution it needs a very strong clean sweep.
The mafia draws its strength from the contacts it buys from the administration and also who heads it. i think the government needs firstly to establish its own credibility and then go after not only the pawns in the play but also the big guns behind the scene. Once credible info is available, there should be no mercy and no consideration of who the big player is. Bring them down, in the courts, prove your case through bona fide investigation and once proven guilty, dispens of them in a suitable manner.
i hope I have answered some of your querries.

I feel that this can only be given if the afternoon or Sunday school system is developed like it had been in the UK people wer simply taught to read and write not more once they were liberated with this skill they were free citizens with their own thought process on news and current events.

Who will make them honest unfortunately that can't be the case the very reason why police in the UK are honest at all times is because they have a constant fear of being caught if we can't make them honest atleast we can keep them honest.

A good solution would be the ISSB like solution process that you mentioned however the motorway police remain honest they fined Rehman Malik once for driving too fast their pay grade should atleast be emulated.

Problem is that the Musharraf government nor the Zardari government has a good approach to law and order they can only face upto the challenge if criminals are bought to court and with the new National Judicial council scheme of fast justice of no case going over three months I hope this is a system people can resort too rather than an eye foe an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

I am a Pathan and before a Pathan i am a Pakistani and every corner of pakistan is my home so before all of you say deport Pathans out of Karachi remember Pura pakistan mera hai....yes afghas are a problem...yes there should be measures to deport them but let's not include all Pathans into Afghans....and not every pathan is a Taliban.....

We never want ot deport any of our Pathan brothers and I am serious in all the posts we have only talked of deporting Afghans but to do this the Pathans will have to fully cooperate and not support the immigrants from Afghanistan.

My village in NWFP the name mohajir doesn't mean people who came from INDIA....it means people whocame from AFGHANISTAN....but the problem in karachi is that if you look at it properly everyone is a mohajir...because the true Sindhis don't reside in Karachi....the thing which can be done is that the government makes stricter systems in place so that Afghanis cannot attain pakistani PASSPORTS & ID cards the problem is that now no one knows who is afghani and who is a PAKISTANI PATHAN....except ofcourse people themselves...its like how all far eastern look the same or how all africans look the same. but they THEMSELVES know the diffrence

I wrote in my earlier post that Pathans will have to help us the most to deport the Afghans they are taking our jobs and using our welfare.

Bane Blade.
Brother, in addition to the inefficiency of the government, the problem remians a basic one. If your country and its populace is not in peace time and facing the sort of strife that Pakistan has been, then the law and order situation is bound to be bad. It is also related to the financial condition of the country, and how well wealth gets distributed amongst the masses. yes we need to have checks and balances but at the end of the day, it is the financial condition ofthecountry which will dictayte how successful your strategy is.

In addition to that however my point still remains that they are coming under the umbrella of the distribution of wealth after filling their own pockets whatever the politicians do throw is also caught by these Afghans that is causing job losses as well as welfare and healthcare for us regular citizens.

Ah, but it is in the interests of crooked politicians to encourage criminality, that way they can raid the pantry while the country looks the other way. What do such people care if the Talibs take control as long as they can escape, or cut a deal?

Yes but they also probably want to hold peace or people can get hyper and start causing chaos what they need is an accountable eye lets hope the judiciary can live up to this dream for us.
