Taliban true followers of Islam: minister

What I don't understand is, what is the logic of having a daadhiwala as an ambassador of tourism for your country at a time when only the image of such people is enough to scare many people away.

I would rather have a clean shaven, suit-tie wala banda as the minister of tourism than a bearded maulana.

Right now all our tourist destinations r in the hands of Taliban, so u need some one resemble them to take care off these places.

Agree to all this but I would add some more...

The media has started calling every person who resists America/NATO in Afghanistan as Taliban... It is clear that this is not the case and the resistance in Afghanistan is mostly from local people... I think the Taliban who clearly state that they are loyal to Pakistan and reject attacking Pakistan in this evil game, we can at least give them credit for sticking to such a principled stance... We can always disagree with what they did in Afghanistan but at least they did not turn their guns on us when we clearly betrayed them back in 2001!!!!!

The local resistance is limited to certain areas especially in southern Afghanistan. It is also worth noting that many in the local resistance are there by force and not choice.

Speak to an Afghani refugee from specific areas and he will tell you.

Btw the Taliban is not loyal to Pakistan, they did not accept the Durand line because of Pashtunistan wet dreams and a misplaced sense of entitlement.

The original Mujahideen were always double crossing thugs who used Islam to their advantage. Hekmatyar was a conniving and glorified warlord who killed more Afghans than Russians. Rabbani was your usual run of the mill Islami fanatic turned politician and the rest too were criminals.

Massoud however was the best bet but Pak lost him because our Jihadi Jurnails preferred religious nut jobs.

During the 1994 Malakand uprising led by Sufi Mohammed, the Taliban supported Sufi, a Mujahideen.

The Taliban also tried to double cross ISI but they were caught.

Again I missed T Faz's point about both conspiring against Pakistan... There are well known elements within the original Taliban movement who have shunned all mention of attacking or betraying Pakistan... They have even spoken out against the Punjabi Taliban for attacking Pak Army...

Badabur betrayed Pakistan and his orders came from the top.

Taliban supported Sufi Mohammed during his uprising against the state.

Taliban provide support and logistics to TTP as they have connection spanning decades.

The Taliban is a long term problem if it stays around.

speaks volumes of the credibility and professionalism of our government

when people like Port Ministers and Tourism Ministers are making personal opinion statements on issues FAR OUTSIDE of their domain

he should be sacked

may be the poor minister is trying to save his own a$$ as he is from the north west which we like it or not is a taliban strong hold also people in the nw do follow wahabi islam and thats why talibs keep flourishing over there , its not a surprise
unfortunatly this idealogy is what we should be fighting against

I wonder if he'll retract his statement in response to a public outcry (which I don't see happening). Might go back to the good old distinction of good Taliban vs bad Taliban.

seems even NATO and US officials have marked this distinction as well

i doubt he'll retract his statement

but 2008 election results have me convinced that people don't need to engage in ''public outcry'' ; the religious parties will just have a miniscule constituency as they always have had in every election the country has held

Un-freaking-believable!
This guy is our tourism minister! :hang2:

Mr Rehman said that the ongoing spate of terrorism could not be eliminated until the US and the world gave equal rights and respect to the Muslims.
.

So his theory is that the murder of inocents the desecration of holy shrines and the burning of schools( which usualy contain 100's of Qurans) will contine till he is respected?

Comon guys please just one drone strike, cant some one in the ISI "leak" that the black bmw with the security convoy is Osama?

I am yet to see a true follower of Islam in this world.... trust me... I am yet to see a Momin in this world

There was a time when people used to convert to Islam by just looking at the face of the Muslim... There are many saints who converted millions of peoples to Islam all alone... without any force

and look at today... even the Muslims are confused about the true definition of this religion... all I see around me is some peoples are extremists... some are too soft and bloody impotents

Where is a Muslim?

Show us the money and we leak anything, the only problem here is that ISI doesn't know where OBL is

Maybe some rouge FBI/CIA Agent can leak the new identity of OBL and the Cadillac he drives :smokin:
