Taliban seek return to peace deal in Pakistan - CNN.com
Pakistan (CNN) -- The Pakistani Taliban -- under pressure in fighting with the military -- said Tuesday it wants to return to a peace deal that recently collapsed. The fighting in the Swat Valley region has forced thousands of civilians to abandon their homes. That collapse sparked the ongoing massive military operation, a Taliban spokesman said Tuesday.

Taliban militants in Swat Valley have announced that they are willing to disarm if the Pakistani government allows sharia, or Islamic law, to be implemented in the region, a spokesman for Taliban mediator Sufi Mohammed said.

The government rejected the offer, saying the Taliban must pull out of Swat or face arrest, state information minister Syed Sumsam Ali Shah Bukhari said Tuesday. According to Bukhari, the offer shows that the Taliban's morale is down and they are retreating.

The lastest round of fighting has killed an estimated 1,100 Taliban militants and 75 Pakistani security personnel, Pakistan's military said Tuesday. Another 226 Pakistani security personnel have been wounded, the military said.

Mohammed negotiated the previous deal between the Taliban and the government, which called for the same arrangement.

That deal fell apart because the Taliban refused to disarm and moved into the Buner district, located outside of the region that the government allowed them to control.

The government has said it will only allow sharia if it does not contradict Pakistan's constitution. There are many interpretations of Islamic law, but the Taliban's version has curbed human rights, forcing women indoors, men to grow beards, and shops to stop selling movies and music.

The military operation against the Taliban in northwest Pakistan has resulted in the exodus of more than 2.4 million civilians since May 2.

The United Nations estimates that it's the biggest movement of people in Pakistan since the country was formed in 1947. It is also believed to be the fastest population flight in the world since the Rwandan genocide in 1994.

In my opinion our civilian leadership should have made it clear to all by saying: "You're either with us or against us."
Hate using a quote by Pres Bush but it does hammer the point home

There is no harm in peace deal ,if they stick with their wordings,PA teach them good lesson, now for sake of poor sawty people both party should make deal but now on GOP terms, Talaban should hand over their arms completly.

I am completely for the idea that the Taliban lay down their arms but I say NO to negotiating anything with them. They can come to the table for negotiationg as Pakistanis. Not as armed Taliban with their own agenda. They have to abide with the law of the land. Any Taliban that lay down their arms and are not Pakistanis should be allowed safe passage out of Pakistan (my opinion).

There is no peace deal nor should there be there should never be any deal with these terrorists that are out to destroy our country and the world! These bastards need to be killed now and the ones that give up there arms need to be deported back where they came from i say just kill em look wat they have done to Pakistan these cowards should have no mercey at all..

There mustn't be a stop of this operation. The only effect of a deal will be that the Taliban will return to this area again. I mean the residents of this area are suffering anyway so rather let them suffer once a bit longer than always. No compromise should be met, those people have shown their anti-Pakistani attitude and their actions speak volumes. This fight is the fight for the people and for the country. This attack-capitulate game has been played too long, we gave them enough chances to prove themselves peaceful, recently with the Sharia deal. Nothing has come out.

Long live the Freedom!

The GoP and GoNWFP have stated all along that the NAR will remain in place.

If the Taliban are now willing to accept this, they don't need to call for a ceasefire - all they have to do is annouce that they are surrendering unconditionally, leadership and all, lay down their arms and the conflict is over.

However, the senior Taliban leadership is invovled in some heinous crimes, which will be very hard to forgive and forget, especially for the families of their victims, so an amnesty for those surrendering may run into strong opposition from some.

For the people who want to negotiate another peace deal with these barbarians.... what are you going to tell the family members of our martyred soldiers? What excuse are we going to give to the families that had their loved ones beheaded? Some of them on video for all the world to see.

My friends these people only understand one language and the Pak Army is giving them an ear full right now.

Dealing with this menace once and for all will not only be better for the Swati people in long term, It will also be very positive for Pakistan as a nation.

Long Live Pakistan!

Sadly, they will definitely not lay down their weapons, the only solution is (unfortunately) violent action against them

Hate to upset you but you approach has failed so often one way or the other.
You kill off all diseases. Let it hang about and it will mutate and grow and become a bigger problem to destroy.

I don't care how you look at the Taliban, good or bad varieties, they both need to be dismembered=killed off.
They are a disease to your society and nation.

In the 60's we callled this looking at things through rose tinted glasses. Refence to the hippies with their flower power, love and peace and a little dash of pot and LSD.

As you say NO STOP.

To stop now will be a loss to the GOP and PA.

No more “peace deals”.

These fleabags got their chance and took full advantage of it.

They roamed around this green and pleasant land like mafia gangsters in the name of “Islam” terrorising Muslims and forcing families to give their daughters away or face death.

It’s time to kill as many of them as we can…unless they surrender in which case we as Muslims are obliged to take them to a safe place and to rehabilitate them.

.
they better go to up and deal with god .we are boor from this deal deal drama.now the time is kill them or arrest them and thru from 2000metters from a mi-17 without parashot.
