It is better for the long term solution and the reason they came so quickly could be due to them wanting to prevent vaccum occuring there

Plus multiple routes could be negotiated through Afghanistan, that are closer to goods production/factories, rather then concentrating cargo all the way to Chitral and into Central Asia, and vis a versa.

Why not ask China for a piece of land that connects with Tajikistan, we can do territory swap with them, this way we can bypass the Afghans completely to get access to Central Asia and EI
Area encircled with Green is part of China, if Chinese agree to ceed it to us then Pakistan will have border with Tajikistan and she won't need Afghanistan.

China may not be willing to sell a land strip and if it did it could be to expensive
