Elders probably didn’t want their city bombed so they surrendered it to the Talibs if I had to guess. Also it doubtful foreign and ANDSF forces (especially air assets) would be allowed to operate so close to the Iran border without that irritating (if not inviting a response from) the Iranians

I do know why people are buying the narrative of surrender without firing a bullet narrative, infact what happened was infront of a large unit of Taliban and no backup insight they surrendered ( most of them ran to Iran) . Literally kabul governor was pleading for backup with just 70 loyalists beside him at the end before surrender.

A day ago most of the ANDSF batallion was decimated by Taliban unit with over hundred dead and 70 wounded in the neighbouring district when Taliban took over, rest of them managed to flee and more than a dozen who were caught were exexuted.

Not just Numroz very large unit but I think one unit from Farah also came in to secure the city.

The think is the Afghan people need to realize that the Taliban can't be fought and this is also why majority are surrendering.. It is absolutely fruitless fighting someone who has the stamina to go on for centuries to come without fatigue. It is not worth it for the ANA
