Take the War to Pakistan

U.S. will always say "do more" no matter what we do...
Remember one thing...

They don't see our sacrifice..
they see their goals...

I agree that if they have intelligence then they can provide it to PA first, if they do not have intelligence what are they going to attack from drone.

There can be another case where they might have provided intelligence and no action was taken, in that case they are justified after few attempts.
While that has been speculated by some in the American media, it really seems improbable given the amount of forces and resources we have committed to this fight. I think it should be clear to all those who had the gall to state that Pakistan's fight is in fact just an act. US is no idiot to have gone a long with it for this long if that was the case.

I am not doubting just to clarify, I just stated how the process should be, neither I have heard someone saying that they have given intelligence but nothing happened.

Can you throw some light on why US thinks that way, I do not buy this argument that they have some plans etc.

A very wrong conception..America focus war in FATA. All these mullah can easily find save heaven in Afghanistan. Instead putting all effort in FATA, NATO should more and more concentrate on those elements ,who are taking advantage of this scenario. Hope US strategy maker don't cross the line, which end up backfire. Right now whole Paksitani nation is against TTP and its follower.
With weapon you can fight the war, but can' win the war. Ultimate solution is dialogue. But don't let your enemy think, its weak side.

If you discount everything, then there is the simple answer of exit strategy. Obama has timed the US troop pullout in July 2011. In November he will go for reelection. If he's failing in Afghanistan by then he will use all this momentum of pinning things on Pakistan and blame us and pull his troops out. During the elections he'll need all the ammo he can get, because you know he came to the presidency claiming to fight and win in Afghanistan by redirecting total focus onto Afghanistan and he kept bitching about the Iraq war when he was president.

If by 2011 he is not able to pin it on Pakistan, then he would've been as much of a failure as was Bush, whereas Bush had to deal with the whole process of starting a war, amending laws, beating up other nations into following suit and of course the terrorist attacks that started it all.

So politics is the most simplest answer.

You are right there is no evidence that the US is upto dismembering Pakistan, except for what they did at some school. But as a Pakistani, that cat is out of the bag and is always going to be on our minds.

I know I'm surprised why are they doing all this hoohaa right now. What we are doing NOW and achieving is amazing and far exceeds anyones expectations.

I think the best analogy of our situation is the impossible task of killing roaches with a fly swatter. Yet we're gaining territory. If the current progress goes on, Pakistani writ should be established by the end of 2010 in almost all areas of Pakistan. It's a fair amount of time that one can wait and see how things progress before beating the war drums.

Pakistan has established political system and huge media network, which is free. So, these two major elements are good enough to neutralize these extremist regime with passage of time. But who will play the policeman role in Afghanistan. NATO, are they ready or they need more enforcement. Or they should call the " Loya jirga ". Call all tribal leaders to establish peace in Afghan land.
Solution is simple, but why major power player afraid to implement....that's the question.

What sacrifice?

You are being paid(billions of dollars) to do what you are doing...

The sacrifice is being done by the poor talibs, who are fighting for the cause of sharia and dying in the hands of PA.

ohh yeah
I never knew that...

American allegations in Balochistan have not been proven with evidence. It's just hearsay and till date Americans provide such information months after the fact.

Quetta is an urban city very much under the control of Government of Pakistan. If there was ever any intel provided Pakistan totally has the ability to cease control of the situation in Quetta. We haven't ruled out military action in any part of Pakistan where actionable intelligence may take us. But this has to be done by Pakistani forces without continuing the practice of "keep shooting till you hit one". The collateral damage in an urban area would be very high and an uprising similar to the one we saw in FATA, would be unstoppable in Balochistan. Quetta, IS one of the major cities of Pakistan, with a lot of urban population, educated folk who goto work for a living and not wield weapons.

If the Taliban are involved in Quetta, they are doing so covertly. American overt actions won't yield any benefit, intelligence would be poor and not to mention the Sardars would finally get the ammo they need to prove that Pakistanis are ready to hang the Balochis high n dry to an American onslaught.

As I said previously, you and the rest of Pakistan may or may not agree with the americans, but that hardly matters. Infact even if entire world does not agree with american assessment, it hardly matters. They will do, what they deem as right.

BTW, they have given intelligence to PA in FATA and Malakhand, not only was the action not taken but the intelligence was leaked so that the targets could escape. Thus, US does not trust PA in this regard. Therefore, US would take the theatre to Balochistan and from there to Sindh, specifically Karachi.

The first and formost priority of the US is to keep Americans safe. So America must do what is right for Americans, in regardless of what others think. Last year when the insurgents attacked Bombay and if the rest of the world told India that India should not do anything, would India listened?
