AFP: Taiwan, US to sign fighter radar contract: report

Taiwan, US to sign fighter radar contract: report
(AFP) – 1 day ago

Taiwan's defence ministry has said the proposed upgrade, which will take 12 years to complete, would give its F-16 A/Bs a significant boost.

The jets will be equipped with radar capable of detecting Chinese stealth aircraft and may also be armed with precision munitions, according to the ministry.

Ties with Beijing have improved since Ma Ying-jeou of the China-friendly Kuomintang party came to power in 2008 on promises of ramping up trade and tourism links with China.

South Korea should Involve Taiwan Nation in its Fighter Program KFX.

US should also Provide AEGIS with Sejong the Great Made in Korea the Great.

Both the sides should have equal chances in war..
Hope china won't mind that, and hope they don't issue one more warning note...

F16s are old airframe, Old 1970s and 1980s jet and just to upgrade it will take 12 year. Unbelievable!!
U.S is just looting money. AESA radar will add good value in those F16s. But 12 year time!!

Exactly, and that's the reason Pakistan and Iran should be armed to the teeth against your big daddy!

It must be the SABR AESA.

isit true that many years ago i dont know exact date that USA was thinking to Nuke china because of taiwan or something

whats this about

In 1958, the United States Air Force had considered a plan to drop nuclear bombs on China during a confrontation over Taiwan but it was overruled, previously secret documents showed after they were declassified due to the Freedom of Information Act in April 2008. The plan included an initial plan to drop 10-15 kiloton bombs on airfields in Amoy (now called Xiamen) in the event of a Chinese blockade against Taiwan's Offshore Islands

No fighter jet is invisible to radars but question is how much time will give for repulsing the attack.
Peace.

US AESA radars have a special operating mode where they focus the beam to double the detection range than the published spec. The detection range is narrowed to 30 degree scan at a time but the effective radar range is doubled. F-15C AESA is said to detect F-22 regularly in this mode. Seems that the US is going to keep this scan mode in the radar it will sell to Taiwan.

Uncertain is if the US will also keep the AESA jamming mode in Taiwanese radar.

Iran : Only Chinese will sell arms to.
Pakistan : No money to buy arms, unless China donates some.
