Again back to the venue of Kolkata Eden Gardens

Andrew Fernando of ESPNcricinfo lovingly wrote that Eden is the home away from home for Bangladesh squad. Many eyes in Bangladesh were raised upward with a curved smile : 'Is that so really?...then why it took 26 years for Bangladesh National Team to play again in the 2nd home venue which is in the closest city from Dhaka in neighboring India ?’ But, well…forget it. It is always a sad story if any neighbor resents other's rightful natural growth.

However, it is true that the last time Bangladesh played Asia Cup ODI match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata was way back in 1990. The stadium was built in mid-Nineteenth century by the British Governor-General on the oldest park in city of Kolkata when the rest of rural Bengal was fuming in the aftermath of struggle by Hj Titu Mir of West Bengal and Hj Shariatullah of East Bengal against British rule.

That Asia Cup match is still memorable to Bangladeshis as their opener Athar Ali Khan scored a fabulous unbeaten 78 against Sri Lanka as Man-of-the Match. In those days, SL was a giant, and Bangladesh was in the formative stage under few youths like Akram Khan, Athar Ali etc.

On that day in December in 1990, Tamim was only one year old, Shakib and Mushfiq were only three, and Captain Mashrafe was aged seven. The rest of today’s vibrant Tigers like Sabbir, Mustafiz, Al-Amin and Taskin--- were not even born.

But what is the difference between Bangladesh's last game 26 years ago and the one they will play today? The difference is they now play ‘fearless cricket’. This new pack of Tigers is different in mindset---which is aggressive, and different in terms of quality---which is versatile, and most importantly loves to take the fight to the best in the business.
