Yes.
Chotoo sa tank hay but carries a powerful cannon with HE rounds. Militants also feared AH-1 and MBT in past coin wars.

VIPER- commonality in most parts. Drivers trained already.

It would be a good addition for FC granted if this news is true. There is still no official confirmation regarding this procurement.

.
FC to seize Kandahar and Jalalabad according to some brilliant whistle-blowers on PDF. Cmon
Well ANA was acting stupid back than. Remember border post incidents. So never say, never. Next thing you know Afghanistan turn into total sh!t and these Tanks are standing in Kabul with unmarked soldiers. ( Russian/ crimea) style.

.
So, just to put this thread into perspective:

1. Someone put a picture of a T-55 being loaded and claimed it was from export to Pakistan
2. Some poster named Dazzler who claims to have inside information said that his "reliable sources" told him that these are for the FC. His reliable sources also informed him that some already came.
3. Serbian poster comes in debunks that T-55s being exported to Pakistan.

Here is Dazzler claiming "some came as per sources": https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/mechanised-divisions-pakistan-army.529460/page-18#post-12170258

If this is the level of this forum it is a real shame. We need to stop this childish behavior of making up "reliable sources". And this brother has moderation powers and handed me a negative rating when I pointed out his information "from reliable sources" makes no sense.

ISLAMABAD, (BM) – Islamabad received the first batch of modernized T-55 tanks from Belgrade, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing the Serbian portal Borbeni Effektivi.

Referring to Pakistani sources and Twitter publications, the publication claims that Islamabad ordered from Serbia 282 modernized tanks of this type. The first batch of military vehicles has already been sent to Pakistan.

The modernization of the old model of tanks (T-55) is carried out by the Serbian company SDPR. In the process of modernization, the Serbian “fifty-five” get modern protection of the case, a full package of electronic equipment and an enhanced engine.

After major refinement, the legendary main Soviet tank essentially turns into a modern combat vehicle, equipped with the latest military equipment.

T-54/T-55 series

The T-54 and T-55 tanks are a series of Soviet main battle tanks introduced in the years following the Second World War. The first T-54 prototype was completed at Nizhny Tagil by the end of 1945.

Initial production ramp up settled for 1947 at Nizhny Tagil, and 1948 for Kharkiv were halted and curtailed as many problems were uncovered; the T-34-85 still accounted for 88 percent of production through the 1950s.

The T-54 eventually became the main tank for armoured units of the Soviet Army, armies of the Warsaw Pact countries, and many others. T-54s and T-55s have been involved in many of the world’s armed conflicts since the later part of the 20th century.

The T-54/55 series eventually became the most-produced tank in military history. Estimated production numbers for the series range from 86,000 to 100,000.

They were replaced by the T-62, T-64, T-72, T-80 and T-90 tanks in the Soviet and Russian armies, but remain in use by up to 50 other armies worldwide, some having received sophisticated retrofitting.

The only thing I can think of is shame. 200 million Islamic superpower has to rely what bunch of commies invented in 1945 and which then has been upgraded 80 years later by Muslim hating Serbs. And then we buy them. Wtf does that say about is.

All I can do is place my head in my arms in shame.

One can afford to lose a battle in order to win a war.

Although we are technologically not at par with the western powers, doesnt mean we stop modernizing ourselves, by whatever means available to us.

Reality has no emotions my friend! History doesn't write the origin of war equipment, it only records victors and losers.

History also gives a valuable lesson. He who has the technology and can make war equipment more often then not wins the war. Pakistan has been independant now for over 70 years. Questions have to be asked why we buying 1946 stuff upgraded by a tiny country called Serbia. Or it will be same on 100th anniversary of Pakistan.

We have been making, refurbishing and assembling more than 90% of T59s in HMC Taxila for years. Why did we did we choose Serbia over HMC.!!! Time,Costs and Further new upgrades.

Excellent point.

If I may offer a counter to that. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to re-invent the wheel. Lets assume for a minute this purchase is legitimate - i think it's about opportunity costs and operational needs.

HIT can do these types of upgrade itself - they're called Al Zarrar. We have these upgraded units in our ranks. At the time we needed them for our Eastern flanks. Now we've found them useful to support COIN operations on our western flanks.

At this point do we re-assign limited HIT manufacturing ability away from front line projects, or do we go with an off the shelf projects? Of course the real afsos in this as the fact we have a limited industrial capability - as you earlier aluded too. This means rather than taking economic opportunity like the Serbs are - we again finding ourselves consumers, not producers.
