T-129 Atak & Turkish Attack Helicopter Programs

T129 Phase 2 == Unlike Phase 1 version, They have Radar Warning Receiver System, Radio Signal Mixer, 9681 V / UHF High Band Radio with electronic warfare systems made by Aselsan.


T625 == General purpose helicopter designed by TAI with its entire infrastructure.

T629 == 6 Ton class light attack helicopter in T129 classification, which has the same infrastructure as the T625 general purpose helicopter, which was developed completely by TAI.
As maybe you can know = Hal Dhruv = T625 // Hal LCH = T629

Atak 2 = Heavy attack helicopter like Apache whose first flight is planned to be built in 2023 - 2024
10 Ton Class General Purpose Helicopter = Will the use same infrastructure as the Atak 2 Heavy Attack Helicopter.


Currently, T129 and T629 prototypes fly with the same engine (CTS800). Since the TS1400 will start testing with the TS1400 this year, the T129 can also use the same engine.

is it like a technological demonstrator to bring the learning gap between ATAK and ATAK II

I find it hard to believe that Turkey made 59 x ATAK and go to T629 then ATAK II

or do they simply plan 3 attack helicopter programmes

T129 5 Ton. It goes up to 6 tons with Phase 2 and everything is out of the body. With this infrastructure, the T625 will be a helicopter at Phase 2 with the feedback from its development. It makes sense to offer such an option, we can sell the T629 and the military version T625 as bundles, they will have the same infrastructure and engine, which means ease of maintenance.

but then the nomenclature is very confusing !

The T129 Phase 2 is not a different helicopter than the T129. It has an extra feature that I just wrote in my previous answer. It has nothing to do with the T629. However, with the new equipment I mentioned, the T129 looks very full, since the T629 is designed from scratch, all these equipment will be much more compact.

ATAK I foreign engine
ATAK II 10-ton indigenous engine ?
T70 with engine under licence
T625 with indigenous engine coming soon
and this utility 10-ton helicopter with foreign engine?

im lost now with all the engine commonality

T129+ T625 same engine
and ATAK II + 10-ton utility same engine?
T70 has under licence

I think ATAK II and 10t utility will share the same domestic engine. I agree, keeping track is very complicated with all these projects.

yes, they will use same engine and they will get twice more powerful domestic engine with 3000 shp. Turkey building t70 engine under license, which is also 3000 SHP, so Turkey will get huge experience from there too ;)
