More often than not, nowadays Islamist is just a term used to malign Muslims who are recognise the political role which Islam plays.

It's like if someone makes a post about hindus and I randomly start to make a list of all the gang rapes in India.

Islamist means absolutely nothing. This is a bully tactic to make Muslims afraid of being politically involved.

My question is simple. Was the Prophet Muhammad saws an Islamist or a Muslim? If these new enlightened secular Muslims have some new message, please bring it so we can judge it independently. Which new heavenly book do you follow?

Indeed. Every Muslim who sells out to government uses it here. I swear people like that, they're hated by the muslim community here. They sell their faith and community for a couple of pounds. They literally use "Islamist" for everything: ISIS are Islamist. Erdogan is Islamist, Muslim brotherhood is Islamist, Barevli groups from Pakistan are Islamist, Salafis are Islamist, Deobandi groups are Islamist. List goes on and on.

It is a major goal of the west to push Muslims away from being islamically political. Many Muslim rulers, like the ones in Saudi and UAE also have the same agenda. They're so afraid of being overthrown.

what had isis done to women in areas under their control....has the assad troops doing any differently...

To the Hindutva radical, any Muslim who votes against Modi or criticizes Indian anti-Muslim policies is an Islamist/terrorist. Every Kashmiri or Pakistani is born with Islamist genes/DNA.

To our liberal Pakistanis/ Western stooge Arabs, Pakistanis, etc. any and all Pakistanis who ever mentioned the name of Allah is an Islamist. Most conveniently their political opponents who disagree with them.

A funny thing happened a couple months ago, a muslim asked a question concerning qadianis and my friend replied that they weren't Muslims because of their beliefs. A liberal/modernist/very confused Muslim then came to defend qadianis and tells my friend that my friend is a salafi "we (meaning Muslims) aren't salafis like you and you don't speak for Muslims". What happened was very similar to what we are discussing now. It was face palming XD

I think Islamist was first used by the Muslim brotherhood decades ago. But I doubt it now means what the MB wanted it to mean.
