BEIRUT (Reuters) - Seventy five Syrian rebels trained by the United States and its allies to fight Islamic State have entered northern Syria since Friday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Sunday.

Rami Abdulrahman, director of the Observatory, said the rebels had crossed into Syria from Turkey with 12 vehicles equipped with machine guns.

A top U.S. general told Congress on Wednesday that only four or five Syrian rebels trained under the program aimed at fighting Islamic State were still fighting in Syria.

The U.S. military began training in May for up to 5,400 fighters a year, in what was seen as a test of President Barack Obama's strategy of having local partners combat Islamic State militants and keep U.S. troops off the front lines.

Yeah give them funds/training & after one year put them in terrorist list & start bombing them..instead of stopping this practice of funding/training they introduce new groups & terrorist to make the issue more & more complex !!
• in Syria,Libya they trained & funded terrorists against dictators & when Isis emerged then they start bombing their own proxies..again more freedom fighters on their way to defeat Isis & later they will make a new group & start threatening west & then you know what these morons will do !!
• I think they won't learn any lesson from past !

That is what the always do. First they train terrorists and then use them against their enemies. Right now they are their favourites. They will call them freedom fighters and heroes for humanity but as soon as their mission is over, they will become terrorists, the most dangerous ones and a big risk for humanity etc etc. The same old drama; they started with Al-Qaeda and Afghan Mujahideen to defeat Russia and now they are demons.

Prayers are with Mr Hafiz the honorable Asad and Russian forces to bring peace

NATO is only good for arming two or three faction and encouraging self destruction via civil war strategy

Ruling leader why don't the gulf prince step down if we go by that logic
Or why don't Obam-pus steps down

i am waiting to hear the news soon abt the 75 rebels

US is not making any sense with its policy in Syria, and it won't reveal its actual policy. This move has one specific reason, political leverage. Recently Russia is deploying more direct support in Syria under guise of 'targeting ISIS'. This means Russia wants more leverage in political talks for political settlement. US is trying to counter this, hence they threw in these 70 individuals as quickly as possible into Syria to send message to Russia that their moves won't give them an extra card to play(Possibly no stepping down of Assad) at the table, since US coalition can handle ISIS. This is the main theme here.

Another point is they want to slow down rebel advances, how? They will command these 70 fighters into Idlib to target Ahrar, Nusra, Jund Al Aqsa, etc....under guise of 'targeting ISIS' and US will launch air strikes against them even without a demand from the 70 fighters on the ground. This way the US hopes to break the rebel united coalition and make sure the advances come to a halt because the world will flip shit if freedom fighters, just, honest men(Mujahideen) control a nation and they might declare war on Islam just because Muslims freed themselves from tyranny in their own country.

These are the 75 out of 5000 men turkey hoped the us would sink $500 million to sweep Assad and the Kurds at the same time. I guess the vast majority of Syrians don't want to be pawns to turkeys plans to annex Aleppo. This is a epic failure and a major humiliation for neo Ottoman Empire. It good to see Turkish tears from this

These 75 were trained for fighting ISIS, and only ISIS. They can't engage regime unless regime engages them.
Meanwhile, you support the man who killed 10 of my family members. Not that you care, all people opposed to Assad in your skewed world view = terrorists

well Obama is elected leader and no one is taking to streets & no one is asking him to step down !
* other Monarchs and dictators should step down and start a process in which Population of that country choose their own leaders, against asad people came out to streets and there was a mass protest against asad, after deteriorating law and order situation he still chose to remain in power & till this day he is in power, syrians suffering now they are migrating to european countries.their economy is destroy, now it's 2nd afghanistan!

- I dont think that they are going to stop this process of training & funding..its a continued process not limited to 75 rebels !!

1 BARREL BOMB AND THE GAME IS OVER .
so far Syrian Airforce barrel bombs are only killing civilians !! it's not a guided missile or anything near that i dont know how this barrel bomb is going to kill all these Rebels ??
