The RQ-170 was most likely brought down by GPS spoofing. It was a known flaw that lockheed was warned about but did nothing to correct. I'm sure heads rolled and the problem is being corrected now. Obama did show how little backbone he has though when they could see the aircraft in large pieces yet didn't bomb it.

Bombing the RQ-170 inside Iranian territory would mean an act of war and Iran would have rain down bombs on head of your soldiers in Afghanistan or set your military bases around the region on fire. Iran isnt your average middle east country. They will hit back hard

VERY IMPORTANT THING: F-4 is a phantom and usually do the bombing missions , so if it was armed , it was going to bomb somewhere but i couldn't and destroyed ....

We aren't the ones surrounded, if you want to believe Iran holds all the cards and the US none its on your head.

F-4 phantoms would not be used for frontline bombing runs by Turkey, they have better aircraft then that.

They also wouldn't send only 2 planes, really guy its basic sense.

Syrian airspace is often violated by Israelis who come and bomb stuff like it is their training ground. Last time they came without any warning and bombed a nuke reactor. So its no surprise that Syria shot down an unidentified bogie in its air space. Further to compound the situation is the threatening tone from NATO in which Turkey is a member of. It could have been an Israeli or a NATO jet armed with a stand off AG weapons to assassinate a key commander of putting down the uprising or anything valuable. Syrians reaction is totally 100% reasonable. Turkey on the hand, is violating a country on the brink of total chaos, civil war and possible aggression from NATO.

WTF was its AF doing in the Syrian Airspace anyway? Of all the places to fly in Turkey, why did it chose a chaotic civil war Syrian Airspace? Turkey should come out and apologize for its irresponsible behavior of violating Syria's sovereign airspace. Nothing else will be acceptable.

true but its look like, its Georgia again . as, if the war escalates then Russian tanks would cross Georgia within just 3-4 hours, with 40km/hour speed to Turkey border. there is hardly 120kn to 130km distance in between Russian and Turkey border, through Georgia?

and, if Turkey will have to defend itself then it will be only Turkey who will have to fight, not NATO. its true that entering in others border is hard, for Turkish and Syrian forces both but once Russian tanks and Russian air force will have crossed Georgia and take a strike on Turkey, it will be mainly Iranian military who will invade Turkey, together with Surian army. Russian role would be just to make it easy..........

we do lose aircrafts and sometimes military personnel also but it is wise for Turkey to forget if something like this happened or may again happen in future . as, it will be definitely very hard for EU+US to send their troops to that region and then fight but it won't be that hard for Russia+Syria+Iran to invade Turkey with combined efforts, once russian tanks reach Turkey's border with straight 40km/hour speed through Georgia. a NATO's AC would hardly be worth for one SU30/Su27 once it come close but a war is fought on ground, and it will be only the Turkey's military who will face all the consequences once they will be attacked from 3 sides.........

Lol 1 aircraft carrier = 1 su 30? Are you on crack? The Soviet Union tasked bomber regiments for attempts to take out carriers, get with reality.

Why you think NATO won't aid a Turkey under attack by a Syria-Iran-Russia axis is beyond me.

Really, what kind of idiot are you? Our plane passed only 1 kilometer in the Syrian airspace. (F-4 Phantom can go 7 kilometers in 30 seconds) It's clear that Syrians were waiting for our plane, then they shot it.
