Can't blame them, they're probably getting all sorts of mixed messages and blackmail from so called 'allies' of theirs. These Sunni groups never learn. History has repeatedly showed them that they won't get any backing and on top of that will get attacked if they proceed with their agenda. This is why they should drop arms completely unless they're prepared and aware of the consequences.
It seems like only ISIS won't let history to repeat itself. ISIS went independent from the get go and cut off all political hotlines with any state. Their mistake is that they made many miscalculations. Firstly they didn't realize they have shortage of manpower/small military capability. Determination of your forces won't cut it if you want large change. Second, they expected more popular support, which is a mistake. Since they failed to identify societal norms among Arab Sunni's. This is why they are also ultimately going to fail.
