He is one by default, his will doesn't matter much, whether he likes it or not. When you are critically sick, weak and in hospital while depending on intravenous drip to keep you alive, do you think your doctor will take your drip off just because you asked him to? He will carry on his treatment as he deems fit whether you like it or not, Especially when you haven't paid your bills and he still needs you to fulfil your part of the contract. While the underlined is true, it would be incorrect to call Assad as Russia's puppet. He is a strong-willed man. As indication, one just has to watch his interviews.
While i agree that its difficult to see how MB SYRIAN BRANCH in particular can side with Russia or be pro Russia especially after all the fighting and bad blood they have developed with Russia during this brutal civil war, i think we can NEVER SAY NEVER. In Geo politics everything is possible THERE ARE NO PERMANENT FRIENDS ONLY PERMANENT INTERESTS. Its all about how your interests converge. You keep saying NATO inspired Muslim brotherhood. What do you mean by that. seems to me like you just being anti west for the sake of it, using conspiracy theories to make your points. The US for example plan to designated Muslim brotherhood as terror group recently(KSA and UAE already blacklisted them) was welcomed by Egypt's Sisi but criticised by Turkey obviously, but do you know who the other most vocal critic of this policy was? Guess who? Iran. While that is theoretically correct, the MB group will never be pro-Russia, unless Russia has been taken over by a pro-NATO government.

You should know the reason, since Egypt's Sisi is close to KSA and other gulf states and Iran supports any group that can cause trouble for this alliance and Sisi biggest opposition has been the Muslim brotherhood. Same as Assad biggest opposition has been Muslim brotherhood affiliated groups. lol So here you can see that Iran is fighting MB affiliate groups in Syria calling them terrorists while supporting their cause in Egypt. As you can see it depends on how your interests converge or conflict. Nothing is black and white in Geo politics as i said earlier. Middle East is a complex one. lol
