What's new

Switzerland sells more arms to Pakistan

So you guys dont make weapons which are more suited for offensive capabilities?

We make all kinds of weapons, but some have more export restrictions than others.

Fighters, Attack, Training aircraft, Bombers (a long time ago), Drones.
Radar, AWACS, Advanced Data Link. Command and Control.
Submarines, Destroyers, Cruisers, Corvettes (no Carriers), Battleships. Underwater Robots.
Artillery, GPS guided shells (Excalibur), Anti-Aircraft guns, SAMs, Mortars, Anti-Tank guns, Recoiless (AT-4)
M86 Carl Gustav, Anti-Ship Missiles.
Assault Rifles (licensed), Sub-Machine Guns.
Tanks (STank), PBV, BV206.
You name it, we make it (or made it) - almost.

One of my personal favorits is the Sig 552 Commando, lots of power in a small package

Yes, and we choose not to sell offensive weapons to countries which has a questionable past,
with military coups or dictatorships.

Yes, but EriEye and RBS 70 are not really the weapons of choice vs an angry crowd of demonstrators.
Grippens for India with worst human rights records is fine for you. The country that openly acknowledged having instigated a coup and militancy in East wing of Pakistan and is at it again. Hypocrisy and nothing else. So please spare this ethics and responsible behavior for people and places with closed eyes and ears.

It is all about money and gaining political leverage for your national agendas. I see accepting this to be more noble than pretending hard to appear as a peace loving and responsible nation. If Sweden so really wants to appear as such, it might not boast about being top seller of killing machines to whatever nations it does

Swiss are quite biased against weapon supplies to Pakistan. Not long ago they refused to provide sniper rifles to Pakistan saying that they may be used to kill other Pakistani's. That is the height of how ridiculous they are. So I do not give any credibility to this news.

The only thing they may be supplying are spares and ammunition perhaps for the Oerlikon Guns sold in the 80s

We have bought several SIG from them for our Naval SSGN and also Sindh Police Force and we are buying few other weapons also.

It is quite sad that we could not move our cooperation level to Saab Gripen that plane would have been nice to replace the F-7 level fighter planes

But certainly we are quite grateful for the AWACs which we bought hard cash

9mm pistols maybe but no higher grade weapon for sure. That is why Sig did not participate in Army Assault or Sniper Rifle program either inspite of having some good platforms.

There has been a number of military coups in Pakistan, and that is something that
disqualifies Pakistan as a buyer of offensive weapons according to Swedish Law.
In the end, it is a judgement based on a number of circumstances.

Sorry mate, defend it all you like but these so called circumstances often lead to money, tons of it.

No several SIG assault rifles are being used by SSGN as well as Sindh Police.
