Goverment is doing enough. India is not poor by fate. These people choose to be poor.
You know it's most fertile land in the world : imagine nali or dewar pe pepal grows up.
Weather is on india side people don't face extreme.
Rains are enough.
It's well located.

Poverty is there in every country but in case of Republic of India , there is a large investment done aboard by the Indian companies by keeping the International and regional agreements.
Indians aboard doesnt get jobs in Indian Companies and all the jobs are gone to the people of those countries.

Here i am talking about the Indian Investment aboard in which Indians are not being hired and all the jobs are given to foreigners including Pakistanis, Europeans etc.
Why cant Indian companies aboard hire Indians ?

Discharge of Waste into Ganga and its Tributeries
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has inventorized 764 Grossly polluting industries discharging 501 mld of trade effluent directly or indirectly into the drains reaching the river Ganga and its tributaries. The CPCB has also identified 144 drains along the main stem of river Ganga, discharging about 6614 mld of sewage/waste water.
The CPCB has issued directions under section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 to 200 industries and under section 18 (1) (b) of Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 to 178 units.
The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has issued closure directions, to 98 tannery units. The CPCB has issued directions for the installation of real time monitoring by the units before June 30, 2015. The CPCB has also issued time bound directions for the implementation of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) sector wise to prevent the discharge of effluent into the river Ganga.
This information was given by Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Prof. Sanwar Lal Jat in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.

Clean Ganga Mission
An Integrated Ganga Conservation Mission – ‘Namami Gange’ has been launched in June, 2014, which approaches Ganga Rejuvenation based on lessons learnt and by consolidating the existing ongoing efforts and planning for integrated and comprehensive action plan for ‘Short-term’ (3 years), ‘Medium-term’ (5 years) and ‘Long-term’ (10 years and more). The projects and activities under this plan include pollution abatement measures for different sources of pollution and other policy initiatives. A report on “Ganga River Basin Management Plan – 2015” has been prepared and submitted by the consortium of 7 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), which has identified 7 thrust areas and 21 action points for the rejuvenation of Ganga and its tributaries.
Work has already been taken up in identified towns located along the main stem of river Ganga and the State Project Management Groups (SPMGs) of the respective states have been requested to take up Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) on a priority basis so that the sewage from these towns do not fall in to river Ganga.
The deadline for installing real time effluent discharge meters for polluting industries located on the banks of the Ganga has been extended to June 30, 2015 with stricter conditions since several industries did not meet the earlier deadline of March 31, 2015

Approval to Namami Gange - Integrated Ganga Conservation Mission / Programme under National Ganga River Basin Authority
The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today approved the flagship “Namami Gange” Program which integrates the efforts to clean and protect the Ganga river in a comprehensive manner. The program has a budget outlay of Rs. 20,000 crore for the next 5 years. This is a significant four-fold increase over the expenditure in the past 30 years (Government of India incurred an overall expenditure of approximately Rs. 4000 crore on this task since 1985).
Marking a major shift in implementation, the Government is focusing on involving people living on the banks of the river to attain sustainable results. Drawing from the lessons learnt from previous implementation, the program also focuses on involving the States and grassroots level institutions such as Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions in implementation. The program would be implemented by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), and its state counterpart organizations i.e., State Program Management Groups (SPMGs). NMCG will also establish field offices wherever necessary. In order to improve implementation, a three-tier mechanism has been proposed for project monitoring comprising of a) High level task force chaired by Cabinet Secretary assisted by NMCG at national level, b) State level committee chaired by Chief Secretary assisted by SPMG at state level and c) District level committee chaired by the District Magistrate.
In order to ramp up progress, the Centre will now take over 100% funding of various activities/ projects under this program. Taking a leaf from the unsatisfactory results of the earlier Ganga Action Plans, the Centre now plans to provide for operation & maintenance of the assets for a minimum 10 year period, and adopt a PPP/SPV approach for pollution hotspots. In an attempt to bolster enforcement the Centre also plans to establish a 4-battalion Ganga Eco-Task Force, a Territorial Army unit, apart from contemplating on a legislation that aims to check pollution and protect the river.
The program emphasizes on improved coordination mechanisms between various Ministries/Agencies of Central and State governments. Major infrastructure investments which fall under the original mandate of other ministries viz. Urban Development (UD), Drinking Water & Sanitation (DWS), Environment Forests & Climate Change (EF&CC) etc., will be undertaken in addition.
‘Namami Gange’ will focus on pollution abatement interventions namely Interception, diversion & treatment of wastewater flowing through the open drains through bio-remediation / appropriate in-situ treatment / use of innovative technologies / sewage treatment plants (STPs) / effluent treatment plant (ETPs); rehabilitation and augmentation of existing STPs and immediate short term measures for arresting pollution at exit points on river front to prevent inflow of sewage etc.
Significantly the approach is underpinned by socio-economic benefits that the program is expected to deliver in terms of job creation, improved livelihoods and health benefits to the vast population that is dependent on the river.

Industrial pollution is even a major problem but steps are being taken to reduce that.
Once the Ghats are being facelifted then i think around 25-30% pollution will be reduced.
