So what do these "planes in the air" do exactly? They escort the drone to the target and laser designate it for their Hellfires? Does PAF get paid for the job?

Mistaking unknown objects is a very common occurrence in air defence control; but being totally powerless to do anything about others wantonly coming in and killing their civilians and then flying out without a word is the preserve of failed states.
