Suspect Identified in Ohio State Attack as Abdul Razaq Ali Artan

He likely had identity crisis and mental issues, Islam permeated peoples minds more than other religions, so what happens is their beliefs and reality don't conform, so they become confused and troubled(especially those in the West), questioning Islam , reality, or both together. Then they develop an identity crisis which causes stress/anxiety/depression, and if they struggle to balance out their beliefs or get social support(non-religious), they lose it and give up. In this case, he probably feared route of suicide due to his beliefs, and went suicide by cop route. That and probably the race factor in the US might of played a role.

This is why Muslim communities in the US, need to provide support for those Muslims with identity crisis, help them deal with them and balance everything out. They, however, don't provide that support. Instead, there are groups in the mosque that remain to themselves, and the clerics are teaching people things like Day of Judgement, avoid 'bad things', lessons on how to be like the Caliphs, false projections that these people were perfect, when they weren't. It seems that way because all the imperfections of them are not told. Hence these confused people become more lost, trying to be 'perfect', increasing prayer/Quran, further separating themselves from reality, and getting more depressed.

The debate over Islam doesn't need to be had now because no one is mature enough for it yet, it is for the future. But, there need to be revamped programs, less sermons on lifestyle back in 6th century which were healthy then, not now. Religion can't be used to treat mental health, identity crisis, personal problems, exam grades, income, etc.... This worked for 6th century Arabs who were tough, lived in harsh climate, and had better mental health than most of those today, so they were able to conform to Islam pretty well initially. Today, not the case.

hey doctor what about 100s of other incident of mass shooting in the US.

Good that he is killed before he could cause further damage.

Most of them have mental health issues, some even to do with identity crisis. What I'm mentioning regarding Islam, is Western Muslims have collective issue with many youths facing these identity issues, and it doesn't hurt to address them and provide guidance for them. That shouldn't upset you, it's a good thing for everyone.

The guy was a Somalian refugee, this will help him strengthen his case for suspending their refugee program and tougher screening for people from troubled parts of the world. Why would he go after US muslims, they're much better integrated into the mainstream in the US than in some countries in the EU, much smaller numbers too. I don't think this incident will be blown out of proportion, no dead victims, nothing spectacular (thankfully).

I know US Muslims are integrated and are actually better off financially than most Americans but this incident will be exploited to demonize all Muslims regardless of their ethnic or political background even non Muslims from Muslim regions will be demonizeddemonized

He will go after all Muslims because he said ALL MUSLIMS his advisor called Islam a cancer what do you think others should think of him?

The BIG problem when a non-Muslim kills a Muslim is the non-Muslim.
The BIG problem when a Muslim kills a non-Muslim is what is going to happen to Muslims.
Thanks for pointing that out, (for the umpteenth time) but we are already aware of that.

Probably Trump getting elected as the POTUS would have been the tipping point. Losers and religious nutcases getting radicalized on the internet and carrying out such lone-wolf attack is scary. Thank God he didn't have a automatic weapon, which I believe is not very hard to procure in US or else it would have been easily 15-20 killed

A very sad incident. RIP the victims. These things are happening with sickening regularity now. To the point you do not know when the next "normal" guy or girl is going to go rogue fundamental. How can one go through life looking over one's shoulder for where the next attack will come from?

I do not know what countries like the US or other Western countries can frankly do. There is no doubt that a very large Muslim population worldwide hates them and their way of life. Hates them for the wars and destruction in their countries, which they see as meddling and driven by greed for oil, wealth, power. And these Western countries have a large number of Muslims living in them, from the same countries where the West has or still is involved militarily.

What can they do? This is not a traditional war between nations, where the options and alternatives are a lot clearer. What do Muslim members here living in Western countries like the US, UK, or parts of Europe believe? Is it possible to find an acceptable middle path between the community and the rest of the populace? What steps can be taken at the community level to help?

According to news the suspect had links to ISIS, According to Tony Blair "we created ISIS to topple Saddam in Iraq", Its no secret who created Al-Quaida which eventually bit the hands of ones who created it. Lets put all the cards on the table and then play the blame game. As far as Identity Crisis, people in every minority will have identity Crisis, Blacks will have it in the predominantly white neighborhood and they are called uncle Toms and a white kids will talk and walk like blacks if they live in Harlem e.g. Eminem, but it doesn't make anyone shoot others. By the way identity crisis has more to do with the color of your skin than your religion, a blue eyes white Muslim will not have any identity crisis living amongst whites. A brown Muslim in Toronto does not have any identity crisis because they can see browns all around them.
