What's new

Survived heart surgery in India but 4-month old Pakistani baby dies in Lahore due to dehydration

Post operative care is as important as the operation itself.

Apart from this there are quite a few medical private practices in Pakistan who recommends Indian hospitals and doctors for liver transplant and other services, it is purely run as a business now.

Just as doctors here in Pakistan recommends a so and so Lab for MRI or clinical tests, to get the commissions and benefits....this is actually a very sad state of affairs.

Medical tourism has been turned into an industry and run like a business entrepreneurship in India, no ethics and humanity....all money and business now...and the marketing that entails is unethical and inhuman.

Many naive and unassuming patients are recommended surgeries in India just to get the commissions in Pakistan from their Indian principal like Fortis, or Apollo or Medanta big specialty hospitals in India. Parents doesn't know a thing about such practices and they blindly follow what is recommended to them by doctors here in Pakistan, obviously they are paid by the Indian principals to do that...a fair amount of money.

So all this medical tourism is basically run as a cartel, as a monopoly and kind of a benevolent mafia....nothing short of it.

Indian hospitals charges about 2 million to 3.5 million Pak rupees for such operations, which is quite substantial if you look at the middle class income of Pak people, but the thing is relatives and friends helps in collecting the money in Pakistan...another dark side of such medical practices.

Check this Pakistani website where Pak doctors recommends Indian hospitals...there are many more private doctors in Pakistan who recommend Indian hospitals even if the medical service is available in Pakistan to the gullible and naive patients....so this is the dark and real side of medical tourism in India.

Also articles in media is also used to promote it, DAWN has published many articles about it as paid content...this is a marketing gimmick to show that such an ethical thing is being done in India...which is just an eyewash.

Check this Pakistani website which promotes and recommends Indian doctors and hospitals...not possible without commission and perks. It is an industry and takes away the noble cause associated with the medical profession...sad but now a reality.

This is why critical pakistani patients coming to india for treatment, when they save 9/10th of its cost vs US.
Also no one want to take a risk as it is a matter of life and death and so they prefer India....

There are many private hospitals (and some govt. hospitals too) in India which offer super specialty. The Quality of the medicines, the care given to the patient after surgery are all important. I've heard that fake medicines are a problem in many countries.

It is also true that India's poor never really can afford such hospitals while citizen of Middle Eastern countries, rich people from neighboring countries are seen more in such big hospitals across India.

Request to all members.. kindly do not post such sad news here... Its not worth discussing anything about a sad and unfortunate incidence...

agreed 100% i always wonder when i hear the news the few Pakistanis go to india for treatment which is available in Pakistan in better quality. we always thought that its due to the fact that treatment in india is cheaper then it is in Pakistan and also the treatment in india is way low quality then treatment in other countries as i heard so many news where indian doctors mishandled cases and patients losses their lives. these senseless doctors in Pakistan should understand this before recommending low quality treatment in India to innocent patients for commission that their family members can also face the same situation. see if some one is suffering in your family you blindly trust every one who gives you advice and if it is doctor u just close your eyes and trust what she says.

Liver transplant was available in Pakistan for the last many years, so is open heart surgery and many complicated medical operations.

The thing is media reports in electronic media, in news sites and all other available media is actually a marketing tactic and philosophy, isn't this is the way marketing is done. Check the number of Indian media reports about Pakistani patients being treated in India.

In Pakistan also many media house specially DAWN has published so many reports about Pak patients being treated in India...as of free, a kind of make believe benevolent and charitable gesture by India...which is not true.

Yes that was my point, you understand it well. The thing is any parent with a kid with life threatening liver or heart ailment is so desperate and miserable that he/she will duly accept anything recommended by the doctor or hospital advisory board.

And also willing to spend any amount to cure his or her ailing kid, parents and any kith and kin....this is about emotional exploitation. No denying the fact that medical tourism in India is run like a cartel, as an industry with monopoly, as a mafia...albeit with ethics being falsely attached to it....nothing short of a medical cartel.

Lol even the US patients are coming to India for treatment since one can get quality treatment on 1/10th cost.
Are the pakistani patients are mad that they have to spend money and part of it goes to commission and then come to India for low quality treatment, when high quality treatment already available in pakistan...

How many US Patients(Not non-resident pakistani's in US) comes to pakistan for treatment,Mr.Genius ?

There are 100's video available......

At least Pakistan govt must provide to its people a post operative facilities.
Poor people can't afford a long time visa and expenses .
RIP to the kid. Sad

What you have written and attached is no way denying or rebutting what I have written earlier, but proves my point more blatantly and with added proofs. Also approves of what Mr. Javed has written.

As it is called 'medical tourism industry' there can't be any industry without cartels and competition, without commissions and omissions, without malpractices and unethical practices...specially where so much money is involved.

So ultimately India is the villain and pakistan who don't care for its own people to give proper treatment is the angel and they save 9/10th of cost for a treatment is also bad.For just pakistani patients, Indian hospitals have to perform charity, when many indians are itself struggling for treatment as of cost factor and treatment for pakistani patients in US or Europe is free of cost, since there service is only for noble cause...Hospital expenses are coming from money by digging underground ! I support low cost treatment after all.....

You comments are just unpractical.Very easy to lecture ethics,as nothing to loose, but very difficult to implement...
I am not favoring hospitals for business, but also not favoring all hospitals are just for charity and those who can afford to pay lets pay reasonable and those not, either very low cost or free of charge...
