What's new

Surgical or no Surgical strike? a difficult way to agreed upon.

how exactly it is applied to Pakistan, we are'nt the one who did it and have to prove it? why don't your govt shows the proof and end the drama here.

Because India doesn't have to prove anything to the world. The fact that not a single responsible person from any country except Pakistan had questioned the authenticity of the "Surgical Strike" . It is now Pakistan's liability before the international community to prove that India is indeed lying, which of-course your government and establishment is trying desperately. :)

There is nothing can any Indian type here to convince a pakistani otherwise.
So you believe what you think and let us believe what we believe we did across LOC.

A surgical strike operation by Indian forces begs the question of the military’s capability to launch such an attack.

On Thursday India claimed it had conducted a “surgical strike” in Pakistan controlled Kashmir across the Line of Control (LoC). Pakistan denied that India carried out a surgical strike and claimed that two of its soldiers were killed in cross border fire.

“The notion of surgical strike linked to alleged terrorists’ bases is an illusion being deliberately generated by India to create false effects,” the Pakistani military said in a statement.

India’s director general of military operations, Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh, publicly announced the strike. He stated, “Based on receiving specific and credible inputs that some terrorist teams had positioned themselves at launch pads along the Line of Control to carry out infiltration and conduct terrorist strikes inside Jammu and Kashmir and in various metros in other states, the Indian army conducted surgical strikes at several of these launch pads to pre-empt infiltration by terrorists.”

India has provided few details of the operation but sources indicate that the “surgical strikes” consisted of a heliborne unit and Special Forces that infiltrated the LoC and conducted assaults on seven suspected terrorist launch pads that were two to three km beyond the LoC.

Throughout the day Pakistan has continued to deny any surgical strike took place. “There has been no surgical strike by India, instead there had been cross border fire initiated and conducted by India which is existential phenomenon,” the Pakistan Army said in a statement.

A surgical strike operation by Indian forces begs the question of whether Indian forces have the capability to launch such a sophisticated and coordinated attack.

Surgical strikes can be conducted through airborne or artillery based precision guided strikes or ground force based assaults; both of which require sophisticated intelligence collection, platforms to conduct collections, and surveillance of target sites and objectives.

India is still on the cusp of building a sophisticated and modernized asymmetrical capability to conduct counterterror operations, while much of its forces are still organized and trained on Cold War models.

Over the last decade, India has spearheaded efforts to modernize her military to include domestic production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Rostum I and Rostum II could provide India with an air platform capable of surgical strikes, long loiter times for target surveillance, and intelligence collection. However, these platforms are still in development and Rostum II just began test trials this summer. India’s drone development program is still in its infancy.

As for artillery, in 2015, India and BAE finalized contracts for the sale and development of new M777 155 mm howitzer system, capable of firing the new Excalibur GPS guided shell. However, development and productionof the artillery system is not slated to begin until 2018.

India does currently field a Russian GPS guided munition called the Krasnopol, though its precision fire support is within a 30-40 km radius and its accuracy is far less when compared to the new Excalibur shell.

As far as precision strike missile capability, India has recently acquired the U.S. anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) Hellfire, which has frequently been used for targeting operations by U.S. forces. India is currently producing a domestic ATGM called the Helina, a helicopter launched precision strike missile, though this missile is still undergoing testing.

In other words, much of India’s asymmetrical warfare capability is still being developed and tested. The examples above are by no means an exhaustive list but it certainly details a capacity not fully developed by Indian forces.

Furthermore, a cross border air raid by either heliborne assets or drones would still prove exceedingly difficult as Pakistan boasts an incredibly impressive air defense system. Pakistan controlled Kashmir is a high threat area for shoulder fired surface to air missiles, some of which have found their way into the hands of militant groups. Any air operation over the territory would be under threat from these weapon systems.

India has released little detail on the operation; however if India in fact carried out a cross border surgical strike on terrorist facilities and not Pakistani military posts, it would be a paradigm shift in India’s war against terrorist and militant organizations. It would also boast the perception that India’s asymmetrical warfare capability is further along than many may perceive.

It is the total and complete opposite. Let me show you what your own countrymen think.

This surgical farce has proven one thing for sure that even if Pakistan 'actually' starts exporting terror in India as a matter of state policy,India has no testicular fortitude to hurt Pakistan in the real sense. At best,we'll have more such invisible attacks and diplomatic outcry of little benifit.

If fear of retaliation was stopping Pakistan from fueling militancy in India, then this whole episode should give us all the more confidence to give it a go with all the might at our disposal.

Pakistan has to learn a lesson in this whole saga. It's time to move towards the offensive defense.Gone should be the days when our soldiers were fighting Indian nurtured proxies. It's time to create an atmosphere of fear and uncertanity in the ranks of Indian Army.Pakistan has to start supporting the Kashmiri struggle for freedom by whichever means possible.

No fear of retalition from India has the same effect now. They've already shown us what can they do and what will they do.Topi drama is all that they can muster.

This drama is going to make India cringe in the longer run.

Time for our security agencies, govt. and relevant stake holders to re-evaluate the Indian threat.

India just lowered the cost of engaging in Kashmir for Pakistan.

.
oh really???
Means you have already boasted of that fake drama everywhere?
That's just making your own self a laughing stock for people ;)
So what's your problem?? U can also keep laughing.. Rather than opening the 100th thread of the day and cry the same Ser Gi Kal story..

The alleged "Surgical Strike" even if true or false, is nothing more than a probe attack.

  • If it actually happened it clearly shows the inability of Pakistan defense forces. :p:
  • If it is a lie, then also Pakistan defense was give a golden opportunity to strike Indian army because as per India, the army had breached the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan. Yet Pakistan army didn't responded. :p:
I would consider this more as a bait which India kept for Pakistan and they just grabbed it. India just wanted to probe the escalation potential of Pakistan in either case I guess. :)

Both way's it is a win-win for India and it is Pakistan who has to prove to the world that no Surgical strike actually happened, which they are trying desperately. :p:

.
Indeed, this farce from India has many benefits for Pakistan.....What if Kashmiris boil more than ever and take up swift arms against Indian terror army at regular basis and not one off Uri attacks.

Pakistan should keep the support for Kashmiri freedom struggle and resolution. Kashmir bleeds India and will continue to bleed India domestically, internationally, treasure and blood.

Certainly not. The Sikhs are a bigger enemy of Pakistan then the indians are. They committed a holocaust against us in the 2 weeks following 14th of August 1947.

dude stop this....Pakistanis already took revenge, 1984 sikh riots in India...Pak PM Benazir handed Sikh separatists to India....who in turn.. killed thousands of Sikhs. The revenge is already taken from Sikhs...

We must now support Khalistan movement ...more than ever before, Junagarh accession , the leader still lives in exile in Pakistan....Junagarh is a cause worth fighting for....take it to UN and International Court of Justice..India is shatterting inside and so you see the chest thumbing outside...attain clear objectives now.

Now you can imagine what is his capability, he is a sole winner whether the raids were carried out or not. He has proved himself that without even firing any shots he can bring down the enemy to his knees and after producing the proof atleast top brass of PA should resign.

I think we must proceed with evidence. It could be embarrassing for Pakistan.

No need to prove anything unless the world community questions the authenticity of this "Surgical strike". Ironically even China or OIC members have not questioned it yet. LOL :)

The surgical strikes did happened. The only thing now remains to be seen is how the Pakistani military will response because according to the Indian DGMO the strikes were on the terrorists camps(launch pads) and not against the Pakistani army. Now if the Rawalpindi guys decides to target the Indian Military bases for revenge then it will be an act of war against India and India will respond brutally. I think there could be another proxy attack on the Indian military camps or worse a an attack on the Indian security establishments by the Pakistani army mens disguised as the terrorist or the militants. We need to be more careful in the next few coming days.
