Supreme Court Pakistan and COAS Bajwa Extension: News & Discussions

THe right hand of musharaf - But he knew his time had come. Even though he let a few screams/tears go but then eventually took the door out.
And what exactly did the 'right hand of Musharraf' do? Did he force Musharraf to issue an NRO?

Instead of convoluted conspiracy theories, most of the time the most obvious explanation is the correct one. Musharraf was no longer popular, he was faced with a stubborn and independent CJ and a lawyers movement for democracy. He caved in and gave an NRO.

What exactly did you expect Kiyani to do?

We are supporting this government to fix our economy, when it can't even file proper legal work. What a joke......
Yes, because in our assemblies has very few educated people, drawback of democracy. How many members can even deal with foreign delegates. Someone said long ago, that "we have to look for people who can speak English to enlighten the foreigners about Kashmir issue or exchange of parliamentarian during foreign visits. "

Same thing, the environment creates itself. The state doesn’t wake up one day on the wrong side of the bed, and does what it wants. The state facilitated it organically, e,g the pindi boys and kiyani was just the face. So I get, why you mentioned the “theories”

'The environment creates itself' doesn't align with 'Establishment conspiracy'.

As someone else said, that's the job of the assistants/secretaries/bureaucracy - not sure why no one flagged the issue. Some heads need to roll after this is over.

Sir either they genuinely didn't know about it or its incompetencey of highest level. I think it's the latter.
This falls on the bureaucracy/legal assistants. Legislators don't always know all the specifics related to process & paperwork - it's the assistants/bureaucracy that are supposed to bring this to their attention. It's not like the PM himself types up the notification & hand delivers it to the President.

So, process wise:

PM brings up the idea of giving an extension to COAS.
Assistants/legal advisers are supposed to provide feedback on whether extension is legally feasible or not
Assistants/legal advisers are supposed to provide direction on process of issuing notification for extension.

The last part is where the failure occurred.

couldn't this shit wait for a few days as queen on Netherlands is on official visit to Pakistan whi also happens to be UN's Secretary-Generals Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance.
Or for that matter, why now, days before the extension, did the court decide to take Suo Moto notice of something that was signed back in August?

. .
First of all this whole drama has nothing to do with the judiciary, it’s an executive branch issue - the court system should focus on themselves and first interpret law rather that acting as some sort of supreme beings cause they themselves sell cheaper than a bag of onions.

Their needs to be a purge of the judicial branch of government just gut them out and start fresh.

This is the blunder being reported by media right now:

* COAS's extension should be provided by President whereas in this case extension was provided by PM
* This was rectified and the request was sent for approval to the President, BUT (below)
* Presidential approval further required ratification by the cabinet, which was not done.
* This too was rectified by sending the extension request to the cabinet where 11 out of 25 members approved it.
* Regardless of not having majority vote the extension was still approved.

Another blunder

* Farugh Naseem requires his license to practice law reinstated to contest this case.

Who is the constitutional advisor for this government? Clearly not doing his job properly.
