What's the obsession with Army, Saad if you actually living in DHA, you will know how many Army men actually lives in DHA, i live in Lahore Cantt. and i know Majority of army men prefer Askari schemes, and the DHA is infested with majority of high class civilians. And if you read The newspapers, DHA or askari flats never got any negative publicity. because of their financial dealings or what so ever. If you don't agree with my assessment come down to Lahore DHA and have a look at yourself to know if Army High gentry likes to live in DHA or They are living in Lahore Cantt areas and Askari Flats

I lived for a year or so with my uncle (2 Star General ) in Pindi. He was in a Government allotted house and we paid Electric, Gas bills. I believe only Telephone was free (not PTCL but some other). And there used to be load shedding too.

Where do they get free and continues electricity?

Here's a post from a Pakistani (Hasan K) on a Pakistani Forum. Thought I'd post it here. Is this for real? I don't believe it!

According to recent reports there was one Marriage Hall in PNS mehran Base in Karachi which is a obviously a Security breach and which is being run by Pakistan Airforce . Tell me any Armed Forces which runs Marriage halls in their Bases...This is another example of the Non Professional Attitude of Pakistan Armed Forces that their bases are used for Commercial Activities and for som selfish Officers. Unfortunately Pakistani tax payers have paid the money to the Airforce to be the best in air defence but they spent millions from the Defence Budget into the construction of Marriage Halls in their bases and making bases insecure as a result and also falls under corruption as the budget is deviated from the real needs of the Airforce to the commercial activities whose profit goes into pockets of Our Military Officers... .

Defence Housing Authority is another Example of Non Professionalism of Our Armed Forces. The worst part is that DHA schemes are made on Government Land and the Armed Forces acquire the land for free for 'Defence' Purposes from the Federal and Provincial Governments . After the land is acquired it is then developed into Commercial Land and then sold to civilians for millions of rupees per canal and profits are distributed among corrupt Officers mostly and then our Armed Forces again Request the Federal and Provincial Governments to give them more land as the previous Land is unfeasible and then this cycle continues.... DHA is now a Commercial Entity which owns Billions of Rupees of property and majority of the profit is shared by the Higher ups in the Armed Forces.........

DHA Lahore is another slap on our Armed Force's Generals' Professionalism where an active duty General is running a commercial organization when we tax payer's are paying them for our defence, but they are involved in business rather than in our defence.

Wings Bakery Situated on the GT Road Rawalpindi is a Famous Bakery in Pindi and is situated on the multi million Rupee land owing to its location on the main road. Unfortunately this land is acquired by the Pakistan Army for Military Purposes but they have now transformed this land into a commercial Bakery run by 'Highly Professional' Pakistan Army Officers whose job according to Tax Payer's Of Pakistan was to defend Pakistan but are more interested in running a Multi Million Rupee Bakery Chain In Rawalpindi.. Surely this Bakery will help Pakistan Army to be more professional in all the affairs and Tax Payer's of Pakistan are more than Happy that Our Army Officers are working Day and Night to Protect us and also they are bringing smiles on our faces by Making Great Cakes and Dressings for all the people of Pindi.

Bottom line: I don't believe this is happening in the Pakistan Armed Forces. Or is it?

^^ it might be very much true, i dont know if the army officers get the funds for building DHA scheme or they make money by building the scheme

half of karachi is cantonement area, the land the military guys recieved free of cost from the government and they later sold it on high pices to the civilians

i live in a housing society in karachi and even now its chairman is the army guy, he is selling the lands in that housing society for corores of rupees and this scheme doesnt even have basic facility like water, gas, electricity

faisal cantt, clifton cantt, malir cant, DHA, askari to name the few
there are so many cantt cities in pakistan esp in punjab

Pakistan Army has mastered every field e.g Cricket(a serving general was chairman of PCB once), Banking, Agriculture, Politics, telecommunication, media, Construction and the list goes on, but what they cant do, is their simple job of protecting the borders.
