They still have some old Middle eastern admixture, tiny yes, but a lot of them are descended from a small population of Jews. Genetics study confirm this, although they are as you correctly mention, on the whole White Europeans. It's a religious issue and until Palestinian state is created with Jerusalem as its capital Israel won't be accepted. Kashmir is also important and Arabs have supported Kashmir always as for protests Arab Governments hardly allow any.
