The biggest difference between Pakistan C-130H and the newer C-130 are the engines. Of course Pakistani C-130s are older models too but still quite close to performance of the newer models.

Besides Engines, Glass cockpit, and better avionics / software (unless you try to reverse engineer / indigenize).

Overall the difference is in percentage's NOT drastic. Something which most people,either have difficulty digesting (because their ego's) or simply don't understand.

Lockheed Martin projections show the C-130J/J-30 will lower cost of ownership as much as 45% depending on the scenario used. Early model C-130s require more than 20 maintenance manhours per flight hour (MMH/FH). The C-130J/J-30 will require 10 or less MMH/FH.

So I guess "IF" the a/c "are a lot better than any other C-130 versions out there." then it\s either IAF maintenance or IAF Pilot, you can choose which one at leisure !!
PILOTS did the screw up.
The 2nd a/c came in the wake of the first while carrying out a low flying sortie and hit a hill.
RIP to the dead.

Not really Kargil Air field is not proper strip, its made reactivate and its semi-rugged. Landing plane close to LOC means IA can can reach in no time on LOC.

Like you keep talking about fantastic stories like Chinese Subs , Russian hellos, when don't know what status is and spend lot of time and page . its better to talk about real things.

The C-130J incorporates state-of-the-art technology, which reduces manpower requirements, lowers operating and support costs, and provides life-cycle cost savings over earlier C-130 models. Compared to older C-130s, the J model climbs faster and higher, flies farther at a higher cruise speed, and takes off and lands in a shorter distance.
