I believe the single biggest factor in US's defeat in Afghanistan was the ordinary ANA soldier turning his gun on ISAF and the generals.
Unless something similar start to happen in the "Pak" Army, the Generals will continue to rape and plunder as they see fit.

And was a major major victory on how they carried out the task

The afghans however will be afghans, it's in the nature and they have waged this war for decades

At a state level the threat from India, afghan republic was major and long term, it was essential they go down and India gets thrown out
