Possible reason Missing trainers

According to figures released by the Ministry of Defence in March 2013, the IAF was losing the equivalent of one fighter squadron (approximately 18 fighters) in accidents every two years. This was primarily because of the lack of adequate number of trainers.

Rookie fighter pilots begin on basic trainers, then move on to intermediate jet trainers (IJTs) before finally graduating to advanced jet trainers (AJTs). These three stages are critical elements of fighter pilot training and any shortcuts will certainly lead to disaster.

But what was happening was that in the absence of an AJT, rookie pilots were moving straight from the IJT to frontline warplanes such as the MiG-21. The upshot – young pilots died at an alarming rate.

With the induction of the Swiss Pilatus basic trainer and Hawk AJT from Britain, the crashes have come down – but not stopped.

Since January 2012 till today there have 28 crashes of IAF fighter jets whereas PAF has seen 21 fighter jet crashes i.e. a ratio of 1.33:1.
Now taking into consideration the fact the IAF is 1.8 to 2.0x the size of PAF, PAFs crash rate is significantly worse than IAF's.

In helicopter department too, January 2012 onwards Indian military saw 12 write offs & 5 damaged whereas Pakistan whose helo fleet despite being atleast 1.8x smaller saw 10 write offs(incl 1 in Congo) & 5 damaged in same period i.e. a crash ratio of 1.20:1 which means in this department too, Pakistan crash rate is much worse.

The loser compares single engine with twin engine jets.
still his tiny ego can't comprehend simple facts.

In 15 years of service,IAF lost same amount of twin engine SU-30s as PAF lost single engine F-16s during 34 years of operations.... with PAF F-16s fighting battles for almost a decade and scoring about a dozen victories.

In the last 5 years number of civilians killed by PAF jet crashes=4
Whereas the number of civilians killed by IAF jet crashes is only 2.
Thus civilian casualties due to PAF jet crashes are two times higher.

Remember the IAF doesn't even participate with single engine for a simple flypast on India's republic day, where as PAF displays with single engine over the heart of the Capital,,,,,never once any PAF aircraft had to be dragged on a trailer.

There are 120, 000 Indian troops stationed in the eastern sector, supported by two Sukhoi 30 MKI squadrons from Tezpur in Assam. The distance from Tezpur to Tawang is 345 kms and from Tawang to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is 60 kms. The Sukhoi 30 MKI will cover the distance in less than 15 minutes given its cruise speed of 860 mph (1380 km/h) at 32780 ft (10000 m) and 1350 kmph over sea level.

China replaced its old liquid fueled, nuclear capable CSS-3 intermediate range ballistic missile with “more advanced CSS-5 MRBMs” and vastly improved its border roads in the eastern sector bordering India for PLA movement. Intercontinental missiles such as the DF-31 and DF-31A have also been deployed by China at Delingha, north of Tibet. On the border with India, China has deployed 13 Border Defence Regiments amounting to around 300,000 PLA troops. Airfields have also been established at Hoping, Pangta and Kong Ka respectively, along with the existing six airfields in the Tibetan Autonomous Region for supporting fighter aircrafts and to enhance PLA’s airlift capability.

In June 2009, the IAF had embarked on an ambitious reconstruction plan to upgrade eight ALGs, including infrastructure development at an overall outlay of nearly `1,000 crores. The ALGs at Walong, Ziro, Along, Mechuka and Pasighat have since been upgraded and are operational now. Two ALGs at Tuting and Tawang

The Pasighat airfield is now a strategic asset of EAC from where all types of aircraft and helicopters can operate. The new runway surface and other infrastructure built are similar to the other upgraded ALGs inaugurated in the recent months.

in October 2011, India decided to deploy the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with a flight range of 290 km in the eastern sector to strengthen its defence posture vis-à-vis China and had a five-year expansion plan to induct 90,000 more troops, where already 120,000 troops deployed, are supported by two Sukhoi-30MKI squadrons from Tezpur in Assam.

The distance of about 400 km from Tezpur to the LAC can be covered by Sukhoi-30MKI in less than 15 minutes. Yet, there is a lot more to be done.

India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) developed indigenously made their maiden appearance at the Republic Day parade here on Thursday. Despite overcast conditions, three fighter jets flew at a height of 300 metres from ground at a speed of 780 km per hour in ‘VIC’ formation, leaving the spectators at Rajpath boulevard in awe.

The LCA was earlier flown at the Indian Air Force Day last year. It was also flown at the IAF’s fire power demonstration Iron Fist, Aero India, and the Bahrain International Airshow.

Indigenously developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency, and produced by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Tejas, as a fourth generation aircraft, can fly at 1,350 km per hour and is comparable to the world’s best fighters, including French Mirage 2000, American F-16 and Swedish Gripen.

The fighter jet was inducted into 45th Squadron of the Indian Air Force in July 2016 with two aircraft. The plan is to increase the production of aircraft from the present eight to 16 aircraft each year.

The AEW&C is an ‘Eye in the Sky’ and a force multiplier. The system consists of multiple sensors for surveillance and signal intelligence. It helps in air defence operations.

And after how many years did the Tejas participated for the first time....anything as to whereabouts of MiG-21s/27s.....Mirage 2000...or the Hawks.

doesn't matter how many years.... we've a policy of not using single engine but that changed witht he current regime.
a nation who can't afford to buy a dual engine has to use single engine Jets for their shows but for us we've options.
