Suggested duties for Indian members of this forum

That's your view. I am of the view that all armed forces should be mocked and jeered. Many are entitled pricks. Some of them die and the news media claims they became martyrs...I really like to cheer when that happens.

Having said this, I am on a Pakistan Defence Forum so I will not say one bad word against Pakistani military. That's because I want to be seen as a good guest on their forum. It would have been the same on an Indian Defence forum, but I will not register there for other reasons.

I hope that gains you their respect.

I respect soldiers of both sides, and I have the respect of the Pakistani members who count.

May I answer?

He was assaulted by a mob. Do you count that as a personal failing? What would you have done in that situation? Do you remember Ajay Ahuja?

Lol...I am not disputing the fact that Abhi-none-Done might be a gentleman. Even the Pakistanis adored him. Had it been a Harjeet Singh or a Captain Yadav, their treatment would have been far different by the enemy.

Even the Pakistanis saw that he was a Madrasi Gentleman so they let him off easily.

As for me, well in the unlikely extreme situation, I would really fight, and not surrender despite the odds. Surrender is not there in my DNA.

That doesn't mean I believe surrendering soldiers should not be respected. And believe me, I have personally nothing against Abhi-none-Done. I just see him as a regular bloke, and cannot give him the status of a sacred cow. That's where you and I will disagree. You cannot really convince me on this.

Surrender is not there in my DNA.

LOL.

One could pick up on that very easily.

One could say fighting is not in your DNA.

One could say that bad-mouthing a soldier is not a sign of courage, it is a sign of the opposite trait, a show of envy of those who do what cannot be done by the envious individual.

Don't do the pop psychology bit, please. Even leftists, communists and socialists respect soldiers.

Since you seek to draw your virtues from the left, read Mao 'On War'. Yes, he wrote a treatise on that.

You asked a hypothetical question. I gave you a hypothetical answer. What's there to "pick up"on that?

The Pakistani military respected him and treated him well.

If you want to spot the creeps, look for those who have vile jokes about him personally, and check their military service background. Like you, they have none.

Don't start losing your temper with me. I don't fight internet flame wars. Just drop it and move on. You've said your say.

You don't have to give him the status of a sacred cow.

I don't.

But you don't have to play silly games with his name either. There is no need for that. Calling him Abhinandan doesn't make him a sacred cow.

Sure, let's move on. I left the CoC on my own volition because all these little runts in your team aren't exactly my comrades in any way.

Have a nice day.

EDIT: This is for everyone's general reference. Calling Abhinandan as Abhi-none-done got me expelled from a CoC I had cofounded along with @Joe Shearer :undecided::woot:

In blunt terms, that term was not to be used according to our code; it was used, and it is being defended by the user.

Nothing we can do about it, except to roll our eyes.

Honestly, I didn't read far enough up the first time....shantanu owes sms an apology. That stuff was very foul.

@sms next time tag at place where the personal attack starts, because I didn't look through in detail at first glance, so I didn't see lot of the worst stuff.

The sanghi thing has also been cleared up by Joe.

Gentlemen,

Two questions have been asked:
  • Can we give a breach of the code a negative rating? //Obviously, some sort of an internal rating is being suggested, not the forum's rating system.
  • Can we invite a frequent offender to leave?
These are drastic steps. Please think about how to implement these if carried.

Any response on either question with a vote of 8 will be considered agreed. We can allow each other 24 hours - until 17:30 HRS tomorrow August 2 for votes to come in.

The CoC advocated restraint, after its formation you've been anything but tempered.

The CoC stressed respectfull exchange, it took trolls testing you to immediately forgo what was agreed upon.

Respectfully, it's not just the Abhinandan jibe, every point on the CoC seemed to have acted as a hindrance for you and that's what it is, that was understood and agreed upon. If you feel uncomfortable with such limitations, you're within your rights to leave them but calling current signatories "poodles" dilutes the good work you've put in this thread.

It was always about guidance on dealing with toxic opposite narrative and methodology for growth, your solution to clean the muck was to add more mud.
