I am aware of Indian support for the various Tamil groups. I am not sure who started the whole thing - TN politicians or the Center. It did not help Sri Lanka that Indira Gandhi and MGR decided to form an electoral alliance for unrelated reasons. It did not help that Indira Gandhi was assassinated & MGR had a stroke in 1984. they were wily strong politicians who could impose a political settlement

From Indian side it was TN politicians who first got involved (given they had the closest affinity to SL Tamil people and smelled political opportunity from it). The centre could not care less at the start. IG got involved because MGR meant a lot to her politically (since he supported her strongly in emergency rule etc etc).

tamilnadu is better run than most Indian states. there is a microscopic minority that wants to finance the LTTE type groups. most politicians limit themselves to slogans supporting sri lankan tamils. at the end of the day every one in India wants a government that is responsive to the needs of the voters

if the sri lankan politicians avoid re-runs of 1983 violence you will probably never see any interference from India

Sri Lankan Tamils are not India's concern? Why should India intertwine in Sri Lankan affairs?

There is no political solution for the Tamils unless they give up on the idea of historical homeland. Tamils were not originated in Sri Lanka.

Some other states/UT's in India ought to be brought under presidents rule well before TN though....so it shouldn't be a selective thing....but more consistent.

She is on a ventilator, and her conditions are improving....... But she wont be available to lead the state for a very long time for sure...... She has multiple organ failure as you rightly said..... 16th there is an election right???? You can expect more news on 17th most probably......But little hope of her return to normal life......

MGR supported IG during emergency? That's news to me :shock: I thought the whole of political spectrum was against her. Many top leaders of DMK were in jail that time.

Not really..... Amma is the most corrupted one of all these morons...... Stalin is better, (in comparison among dmk leaders)..... Actually that party is all about Amma, nothing else.... Wonder what will happen to the party if she is not in a position to lead it.... There is no second leader (Paneer selvam put her shoes on his chair, when he was acting as a CM).......

AIADMK does not have a second rung leadership, and sadly for a state proudly not allowing National parties inside, this is not a good thing.

ADMK in Sasikala hands is more dangerous. She is actually the unofficial No.2. many seats were sold in her name. Even for contracts, they have to contact Sasikala's men. I guess OPS will be a good guy if he handles the affairs in absence of JJ. But again if he can win elections, is another problem.
