SU30 MKI GROUNDED

. . .
Yes, it is a normal procedure.

. .
Just grounding the Indian assembled MKIs will do since both crashes were made in India planes. I am pretty sure it is some quality issue because India replaced some fly control components...

.
An Aviation historian once commented on the Indian SU-30s.

A Russian airframe packed with Israeli, French and Indian gadgets, the aircraft will develop into any thing from breath taking to depressing.

This impressive looking fighter seems to bu accumulating a troubled history. In the IAF service, It has at least been grounded twice before,
Once due to faulty fan blades and on another occasion due to malfunction in the fuel pumps.

. .

some fool has twisted the things.... the video just mentions that the fleet has been grounded and an enquiry is underway to look into cause of defect.... well that is a fact....and also the tright thing to do.... but it has to be some empty minded junk person to label the video as
"Impotent Air force Grounded Junk SU30ski..... another blow to India "......

neither it makes IAF impotent and neither just 2 crashes over 12 years of period make MKI junk..

the title of the video is nothing but crap....and the person who must have labeled it so is a bigger crap....but nothing wrong with video- a news clip just saying that sukhoi is grounded and an enquiry is underway to look into its reasons.....yes the sukhoi is grounded....everyone knows it.... but thats a precautionary step only...it is a normal procedure.... would love to see this amazing bird in air again....

Grounding the fleet is equivalent to 'PAUSE' in the action. Keep in mind that no aircrafts are exactly alike in manufacturing and operation. Each will have different levels of structural stress. If some are assigned to inland bases and some are near salt water, all the more reasons to ground the fleet to see the effects of salt based corrosion, speed and depth over time. Inland based aircrafts would serve as controls in the analysis. This is a good decision. Looks bad but basically a good decision.

If they are just needed to take some data, using inland based aircrafts as reference, what is the need to ground all the fleet at once? It can be done with few planes at a time. Especially since they are main strike aircrafts, some should be kept in a ready to go state.

As I understand grounded does not mean they are not ready to go. They can be still used in case of emergency, also they might still be at same airbase. Any Airforce professional here to clarify.

The SU30MKI fleet is now very large prehaps best part of 120 fighters in service with around 15 on production ramps as we speak.

at $45m each its not a cheap war plane.

Tech wise its easily the best fighter in the IAF and the fl;eet is the mainmstay of IAF air power.

BASICALLY it is common sense and good practise to ground the fleet to establish wat caused the accident.

An mki crash is the equivalent of a Typhoon crashing in RAF or a F22 crash in USA. iTS SERIOUS NEWS and will need to be fully investigated.

totally diffrent to a aging mig21 or mirage 5 crashing in south asia because they are so old to dangerous to fly now due to fatigue

.
I think it is a sensible move on IAF part. Only thing they must try is to conclude this investigation ASAP.
