BANGALORE: Anticipating a rapid Talibanization of Pakistan as the coalition forces are planning to withdraw troops from Afghanistan by 2013, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne on Saturday said the year ahead is going to be crucial for India.

The threat of Talibanlization of Pakistan could even reach the Wagah border if the situation in both Afghanistan and Pakistan worsens, Browne said at the Air Chief Marshal LM Katre Memorial Lecture on 'IAF: Strategies and Capabilities'.

"There is a systematic Talibanization of the state of Pakistan. The focal point of terrorism now has shifted from Afghanistan to not only North West Frontier Province but also to Punjab. And it is a major worry for India," he said.

Elaborating the plan to strengthening the capacities in northern parts of the country, he said the two airfields - Nyoma and Kargil - will be made fully operational airbases soon. "We have plans to deploy a Su-30MKI fighter jet squadron along with a transport base in Nyoma airbase. The Kargil airbase will have the newly acquired C-130 and C-17 transport aircraft with heavy lift capabilities to enhance the special operations."

The number of air squadrons projected for the year 2022 is 42. While the existing squadrons of MiG-29, Jaguar and Mirage-2000 will be upgraded, a good amount of the current fleet will be replaced with Rafale jets, HAL's LCA fighter aircraft and Sukhoi MKIs. The airlift capacity (transport aircrafts) airforce will be increased three times in ten years. The helicopter fleet will also be expanded by adding the new Apache attack choppers and another fleet of either Chinook helicopters or the new variant of Mi 26s.

Good!! Just make it a fully operational airbase capable for landing/takeoff of heavy aircrafts

The motives behind deploying these planes on the border with Pakistan are not 'Talibanization' which actually isn't a proper word nor a reality.

The Pakistan-India border, in the Punjab area is finely mined (Anti-Tanks) and there is no way anyone can cross that, even with support of anyone. Just the higher command getting a excuse to station their latest fighters with Pakistan.

Just as a reminder, the 5th Squadron (though it does not provide the cover in the area, it can react as the distance is quite short) equipped with AIM-120s area placed near the Indian border, between Punjab-Sindh.

Anyhow, will someone elaborate how a SU-30, a C-17 or a C-130 take down anyone entering your side? Pakistan-India border is heavily guarded, with more ratio of Indians to Pakistani, 4:1 or slightly more. Is India planning to demilitarize the border?

The excuse to deploy these planes doesn't make any logic. The people are not kids to believe in the excuse.

In 5 years The preparation of Indian Defence brings our two hostile neighbour at table to make friendship with India...
not because India can crush them simultaneously, but because we can retaliate mercilessly any misadventure posed by Pak-China

We'll see. India can crush Pakistan mercilessly, only by cyber warriors.
The reality is, I am afraid, much too far than what you dream little boy.

Talibanization of Pak is not a excuse of Preparation of Indian defence...the over all activity is a effect of terrorist attacks on India..that we have learn after Parliament and mumbai attack....
In future if any thing like this happens...hope the long beard terrorists and thier AAKA will see MKI on their head within 24-48 hrs...and after 72 Hrs..US will give you compensation to calm you down...Thanks

who gave the rank of General on PDF..you need English classes Taau...read my post carefully..I dididnt said thay India can crush pak..but can retaliate any misadventure from you guys.

Dont think this will happen..It's against Pakistan interest.Might be there will be greater unrest withing pakistan but Talibanization of Pakistan will not be easy.Rather Pakistan will keep its India border cool and try to place Taliban in Kabul at any cost once Nato forces move out.Dont know ,this chiefs are making any kind of comments infront of media.Ultimately its a policy to drag some more fund from GOI.May be its good for IAF or Army but does not sound good sometime like "India has only 2 days of tank ammo in case of war",Indian air defence is 97% void. Then what r u practising with at the heart of Thar desert with so many man some times number goes above 40000 troops. This chiefs are talking anything.

Bearded? I thought the attackers of Mumbai hotels were clean shaved.
Anyhow, if you happen to be talking about surgical strikes, then please enlighten yourself that PAF gave IAF a strong retaliation and threatened that any possible attempt for this would be returned with a iron fist.
A few weeks after Mumbai trauma, a formation of four Su-30s crossed border over Lahore and two F-16s were scrambled which locked on the Su-30s and they were given order to leave Pakistan airspace in 30 seconds. We know the rest.

US delegation came to Pakistan, in a meeting with Pakistani authorities in 2008, President, Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff attended the meeting. They were asked to give permission to IAF for the strikes, where PM and President agreed but General Kiyani mentioned the incident, and said that next time the missile will be fired without warning. It's been four years yet no any attempted strike. I don't know, if it is due to the warning of Pakistan Air Force or that Indian Army has not been able to spot any camps.

Decision to deploy these aircraft at Nyoma & Kargil Air-Base and make them fully operational airbases was made much earlier. Its not just now, its been planned many years ago, only now this will be implemented.

How about 20 odd F-16 & 50 odd Jf-17 locking 270 MKI , 198 Rafale and 64 Mig-29:rofl:

World has been changed alot since 2008..I think you know better because you are in Pakistan receiving Drones, and in India we receiving latest High-tech weapons to fight against crusaders not terrorist....this is the main clause you are having F-16..I will give 100% assurance you cant use F-16 against India

Again your dreams little one.

You mean to say India would send all it's inventory to the border of Pakistan? They claimed that the main threat was China, what happened now? Please be practical.

F-16s cannot be used against India? Well, I witnessed them flying round-the-clock in the tension that grew in 2008.
They did intercept Su-30s and one F-16 did shoot down IN UAV over Pakistan in 2001. Talk about it...

Picture? I joined this forum two years latter, and I didn't see it. No idea what you are talking about, but I am giving reference to ISPR. They locked on the Su-30s in visual range and the ground control order them to change their course, back towards India in 30 seconds.

I think you'll need a manual guide before using those latest weapons. History should be your source of check... ;)
