1. 12 hardpoints instead of 10.

2. No air brake which minimizes RCS, increases fuel capacity and allows for the strengthening of the airframe.

3. Stealth coating added to the canopy and nose as well as intakes. RCS is down to 1 meter^2 for most of the front 60 degrees of the airframe.

4. New AL-41F engines with 2 tons more thrust than the baseline Al-31F

5. New ECM system

6. New IRBIS radar and new IRST and RWR, the first new RWR in over a decade.

7. New flight computer and navigation system, new radio, new HUD, new everything.

8. 2 new giant MFD's and 1 touchpad for the ECM system

9. strengthened fuselage and ability to carry more fuel in the spine thanks to the absence of air break and second seat. I think I said this before, sorry

10. The pitot in the nose will be gone in the final product

11. fly by light control system instead of fly by wire. Only the Rafale has a similar fiber optic system. The IRST channel is also fiber optic on this thing and on the MiG-35.

12. Useful life of the airframe is now 30 years and it wont need rebuild until the 10 year mark. Older flankers need rebuild at the 7 year mark. No repairs are needed until the 1,000 hour mark. Before repairs were needed at the 500 hour mark.

13. Almost 2 tons more fuel capacity and a slightly lighter airframe owing to more use of composites and titanium

14. On the downside the cost is up by about 1/3

The Russian air force has said it will in fact procure this version.

Is it me or do the flanker variants look get bigger as time goes on? This thing must be a beast. Is the MKI just as big?

Not sure, but the design is totally different. They resemble more with the Chinese Su-30MKK/2 than the Indian Su-30MKI.

How can it not have an airbrake? The video shows it as extending it's airbrake as it lands.

It is slightly different looking from MKI. MKI has canards.

Its good that Russia made the Su-35. Now they will keep making improvements and upgrades for it, which Indian MKI's can also receive.
