Let's not deny these important factors too.. and they have played well to the vision and ambition DXP has had for his nation. And to him (Deng Xiao Ping), respects ! It was a difficult time for someone like him to come forth with a plan for (controlled) liberalisation and he could have been sidelined by hardliners. Wait... North Korea also has a centralized system and no democracy, where is their soaring economic growth?
