Jaipur: Students using illegal means to perform well in exams is not uncommon, but a student from Uganda is paying a heavy price for such a crime in Jaipur.

The student, Mujungu Mark, had come to the Rajasthan University and allegedly got his marks increased illegally.

Fifteen years later, his case is yet to be settled, and with no Visa or Work Permit, he has no means of earning a living. In desperation, the student has now petitioned a Jaipur Court to either allow him to return to Uganda, or be thrown into Jail to feed himself.

"I've lost most of my life. I mean half of my life is gone just like that though I've done nothing wrong. I'm not married yet. I don't know how my brothers and sisters now look like or how my father looks like. I've also lost my mother recently," said Mujungu Mark, Student from Uganda.

Ironically, three years ago, the University closed the case and a local court even allowed Mark to return to his country. But till now, the Rajasthan Anti Corruption Bureau has refused to give him a No Objection Certificate, and Mark now feeds himself by selling watches on the footpath.

"If he had been a citizen from a First World country, his case would have been settled in one year. But since he comes from a small country like Uganda, nobody is bothered about his plight," said Sudhir Badetia, Mark's Lawyer.

Through a Mercy Petition, Mark has now pleaded in a Jaipur Court that he should either be sent back to Uganda, or thrown into jail so that he gets a roof on his head, and two square meals. The case will come up for hearing on December 13.

oohhhh got when will our systems be efficient enough to prevent people from such suffering

. .
thats the dark India.

files,procedures,systems...reminds me of OFFICE-OFFICE.

its really sad, people who are rich can somehow go thru all this, but its the poor and common who always get stuck.

.

Hmmm....
When did one require a work permit to work in India?
No one asks for anything like that. Its India for God sake. Sab chalta hai yahaan.

But its bad that he's stuck here. He should have written to his embassy here in India, they could have solved it out for him in no time.

Indian education is a joke..not only for their nationals but for foreigners as well. Any Indian particularly in the IT industry has a masters and half dozen certificates by default while zero knowledge in their head.

.
There is a reason behind the foreign nationals coming to India to study. I am sure the education system is better than what this guy would have got in his native country. I think 15 years is a little too stretched (by the report) for him to remain in India in this state. He could have requested his embassy to help him out in this situation long back.

@somebozo ..Joke or no joke is for him to decide, not you.

Indian education system isn't a joke. Its diverse. All sorts of education is available here. It all depends on what u pay for and how interested you are.

If you are capable go for IIT and IIM. Graduates from IIT are most intelligent students in the WORLD. And its proven.

Its just that competition is so intense, that if you aren't that good or deserving, you will have to settle for a smaller or less capable college, and that reduces your chances of gaining enough knowledge.

It also depends on the student. A poor student studying IT without a computer at home would never be a good enough engineer. So its the diversity, but still we are doing great.
