They had a language, but not one as rich and diverse as Bengali. Period. Not a language to whose exponent a Nobel Literature Prize was awarded. And Pashtun literary heritage dates back to 4000 years..lol..you ve got to be kidding me. And again - in any case the bengalis were always within their rights to resist any imposition upon them. They did not form a new nation to be ridden themselves of their prime identity. To them probably their language was a bigger identity than Islam and pan-Islamists have to accept that bitter fact.

Yes...Rehman Baba, Khushal Khan Khattak, Beyized Khan & recently Ghani Khan & Ameer Hamza Shinwari - they're huge names in poetic annals of the Pashto Language. Having said that I didn't say that their literary history went that but rather the Pashto language & the Pashtunwali - both that they take so much pride in !

Bulleh Shah, Waris Shah, Shah Abdul Lateef Bhitaai are more respected than the Nobel Laurette Tagore to the point of some of their poetry finding their way in the religious scripture of Sikh religion. But this isn't a d*ck measuring contest. The point was - We accepted because there was NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE, none of other languages could take the non-partisan place that Urdu enjoyed & neither were they the Lingua France across the board.

It is not about Pan-Islamism but the simple facts mentioned above & the previous post !

This part reeks of insecurity. We in India have 22 official languages and numerous more dialects. We are no more fragmented today than Pakistan. If you could not see this bare fact from your neighbour and learn, then yes, pakistan deserved to be separated.

And yet English is the official language...right ? Well Urdu serves that purpose for us from ! It isn't about insecurity unless you wish to troll nor is it about learning from our neighbor - We had a working solution - Each federating unit would make their own laws, collect their own taxes, spend it themselves & give due patronage to the dominant culture & the dominant language of that Province ! The rest of us are pretty set with that arrangement...if anything we're looking towards the American model of Federalism as it was envisioned in the beginning.

Oh but wasnt in '47, Islam a separate civilization in itself which was supposed to override every other identity ?

Only if the recipient of that message is willing to listen ! And the Bengalis were...they made enormous sacrifices for Pakistan before & after the Partition ! But that does do-away with them being blame-less throughout their stay with Pakistan or in '71.

This. Military annexation is not an achievement of mankind. Rapid horseman could conquer many lands, but what have they contributed to the world? Indian science have influenced the world; many Islamic scientists were translating Greek, Persian and Indian scientific works to Arabic, in order to translate them to European languages. I hold Indian science in a quite high regard.

Taj Mahal was mostly based on Persian architecture, and not on Turkish architecture. It was even build for a Persian.

Learn to separate Ancient India from Modern India ! We were a part of the land of Bharat & we were the bridge through which the Iranian & the Indian civilizations interacted.

Slaves? That's perhaps why Sassanid Persian defeated thousands of Turks in pre-Islamic battles. Is that why Turks adapted Iranian culture and customs? Is that why influenced Turkish literature, poetry, architecture, etc. Or is that why Arabs took Turkish slaves? You guys have a great slave-history as well. You guys have not build ONE significant city in your whole history. You have always been seen as barbarians in Europe. Let me quote the great French philosopher Voltaire:
