If you think that Li Ka Shing and other HK oligarchs are the root of problems, man-o-man, are you so wrong!
The problem for some time has been that chinese analysts and CCP are not able to actually analyse the situation.
They underestimated the opposition to the extradition bill.
They underestimated the resolve of the United States to fight the tech and trade war.
They overestimated their own technological prowess and started boasting about it, which actually spooked US.
I guess, yes, you can crush them. But at what cost?
If you crush HK protests, it will be a field day for the US. US will apply more sanctions and the other countries that have been sitting on the side right now, like Germany, France, etc. will all be pressured to partake. You will lose a lot of credibility and US will sell you, and be successful in selling you, as a rogue, oppressive, murderous regime that needs to be contained.
The extradition law is actually for Taiwan.
There's a Taiwanese murder hide in HK, who is going to be freed in this September.
