Strategy to revive PIA, PSM, PR devised: Shahbaz

I don't think his comment was specific to a ethnicity.

This is basically the fuel people spreading hate among ethnic grounds need why give it to them. These comments will be used by some hate monger or in Karachi and kind of hard to argue against it.

CB4 Karachi is a pakistani city and last i checked Urdu speaking Pakistanis have every right to work their. Besides most Management positions in All crown corporations are taken by Ex Military personals who are not in any way qualified to run a business.

lol wow Again you come up distorting my words. Its certainly not the first time ! Please point out where i have mentioned them in my post ?

Just to get clear. I'm NOT talking about urdu speakers, punjabis, sindhis, balochis, kashmiris etc but a political party that it and its workers have had power of an institution from last many so decades. Am i wrong to say MQM has been sitting in the government, especially in Karachi ?

The lucrative posts are only a handful...the bulk is made up of ground staff and air-hostesses etc.

You would be surprised to know the quality of the air-hostesses in PIA right now. There are truck loads of them who belong from interior Sindh and have no qualifications at all except being a 'gori rang wali'. Similarly, those hailing from other areas getting in because of some affiliation. Not all, but a fair few.

In the old days, they used to be from good families, educated, capable etc. Now you even have sl**s working in that place.

Then the ground staff, every ayra ghaira is stuffed in...even the engineering department!!!! Only place that is left alone is the pilot staff. Thank God for that.

I agree 100 % with your statement but those are the jobs that were going for 10 lakh not the higher ups. If you talk management then you are talking big bucks unless you are retired military officer PIA alone has 60 to 100,000 extra personals then it needs.

.
PIA had been turned into a PPP exclusive place, you go into airports, baggage department of PIA, the engg hangars and offices and you would see PPP posters plastered everywhere.

Let's hope N brings in competent people and kicks out all these jiyalas, and doesn't stuff in it's own people.

.
Actually in the past 5 years, it has been an influx of PPP rather than MQM people!

So in the past 5 years you think MQM, and ANP were not sitting together with PPP in the government ? :laughcry:

Its like saying Shipping Ministry was not with Babur Ghauri and Railways not with Bilour

Come on man. They are all responsible !

Definitely all are responsible, but you would find 6 people out of 10 belonging to PPP while 2 out of ten of MQM.

Secondly you wont find a picture of the toad who ia sitting in London, but you will find a poster of BB.

What I mean to say is that PPP has left a much much bigger footprint.

.
The proof of the pudding is in its eating. We will see when these strategies will bear fruits.

Air Arabia signs $350m financing deal

Syndicated deal to finance purchase of 10 aircraft

Air Arabia said on Monday it has signed a $350 million financing deal from a syndicate of two GCC banks — Qatar National Bank (QNB Group) and Commercial Bank International (CBI).

The financing deal is aimed at funding the acquisition of 10 new Airbus A320 aircraft, which form a part of a larger order for 44 A320s Air Arabia placed with Airbus in 2007, the Sharjah-based budget carrier said in a statement.

The move comes shortly after the largest LCC (low cost carrier) in the Middle East reportedly said earlier this month it plans to raise $400 million to $450 million in bank loans to finance aircraft purchases.

“We will be getting deliveries till the end of 2015,” Air Arabia’s Chief Executive Officer, Adel Ali, was quoted as saying by Bloomberg, adding that the carrier will need planes to expand besides needing replacement airplanes for the ones that have been in service for three years.

Air Arabia reported its first quarter results on May 13 saying net profit for the quarter jumped 20 per cent to Dh59 million over the corresponding quarter in 2012, on higher passenger numbers and new route launches.

The Sharjah-based budget airline carried 1.4 million passengers in the first quarter of this year, up 18 per cent over the same period last year.

Budget airline of yesterdays is incurring profits while our PIA the so called "International" airline which cannot be even called a regional airline is being managed efficiently if not very efficiently.

PIA cannot be even compared to a budget airline, such is the esteem of PIA.

Let us see what strategy will be formulated.

right....throw more money down the drain.....
privatize these loss making entities....

Absolutely.

Government should manage the infrastructure for a while.

But every other aspect should be in the hands of private companies who pay rent for the usage of facilities.

That's all.

Government should not be flying airplanes and fixing trains.

Heck hire someone from Qatar airways top management or Emirates and make PIA truly international again with no restriction on food.

You get to eat and drink what you want.

That should be the true mantra of an airline.

Work with local city tourist boards to offer free overnight stay packages for every famous place.

And you will get the travelers paying top dollars (ok dollars compared to what other good airlines charge).

In my humble opinion, Pakistan Railways must be given the top priority. It is the transport of the poor and far more economic & comfortable way to carry people and goods across the country compared to road carriage.

On a personal note; I still carry nostalgic memories of my travels on the Mari Indus Express between Lahore & Sargodha during my student days in the late 50’s and early 60’s.

.
All state owned corporations should be privatized, this qaom doesn't deserve to own this kind of prestige companies.
