Any idea what this Day-0lighting technique is...?

As far as I know "Day-lighting of a tunnel" usually means removing the "roof" of the tunnel. But if you read the news it seems like, they are talking about the breakthrough, as in seeing light at the other end of the tunnel.

Another loosely used term I guess :undecided:

Are the locomotives specially made for Kashmir as I haven't seen this type of locos in my part of the world.

Civilian +Military. Nothing can trump trains for the large scale surface movement of resources whether its for civilian or military use.

Yes we can but Katra to Qazigund line will take 6 years complete.

Leg 0 extending 53 kilometres (33 mi) from Jammu to Udhampur, completed in April 2005.[2]
Leg 1 extending 25 kilometres (16 mi) from Udhampur to Katra. Under construction, may open in 2013.
Leg 2 extending 148 kilometres (92 mi) from Katra to Qazigund. Under construction, may open in 2017.
Leg 3 extending 119 kilometres (74 mi) from Qazigund to Baramulla, completed in October 2009.

I know that mate and 6 years is a very short period of time.

This is by far the most important development in Jammu and Kashmir from India point of view.
